Despite a couple of irritating faults I still have to give this hotel and the staff top marks. The first issue occurred on the night I arrived and I was woken up at 3am with the sound of dripping water; I discovered that the roof was leaking and called the duty manager who quickly changed my room; it was a pleasant upgrade - in all it took 20min to move me and to get back into bed. The other two issues are ones that won't go away - firstly the elevators are totally inadequate for such a large hotel even when both work - unfortunately to make things worse one of them malfunctioned for most of my stay resulting in long waits. Secondly Rio is expensive compared to other S. American cities and this hotel is leading the charge - for example a beer and burger costs more than USD30!

Ok having got that off my mind let me tell you that this is a wonderful hotel and the staff are simply exceptional. For those that read my posts you will know that swimming pools are important to me for lap training. I can say without exception this is the best pool I have ever had the pleasure of using - other than they keep the temperature at 30C which is about 3C too high. A pool should be refreshing not energy sapping. The rooms are great and the bed is fantastic.

I would love to come back to this hotel

The 90 year old Copacabana Palace Hotel is probably the most iconic hotel in Brazil. Recently refurbished, it maintains its original charm, although it might lack a little of the modern comforts one would expect from a hotel of its category. The spa is great, worth a visit. The swimming pool is very good and a great environment for a drink. Do not expect great beach service, but it is okay. Service is very corteous, really first class.

Room Tip: The original main building is better if you want to feel like in the old days. The ones with side v...

This hotel is amazing. They cannot do anything more to help you. If I ever return to Brazil, I will stay here for part of the trip. The beds are huge, the rooms are really comfy. Own private part of the beach with complimentary water and fruit.

Booked the Copacabana Palace hotel through British Airways holidays for my family. Everything about our week at the hotel was much, much better than we could possibly imagine. All staff we had contact with in reception, business centre, restaurant, bar, pool, gym, spa and especially concierges were brilliant. Although our rooms (523/524)were facing inland they had the comfiest beds, whitest linen sheets and views of Corcorvado. The quality of the hotel helped make this our best family holiday.

Amazing traditional hotel, in a true palace style. Great pool! At the beach, in Copacabana. You are in the footsteps of many a celeb, and this is probably the swishest hotel in Rio, with dito pricetag. The only reason why I may book elsewhere is that I found Ipenema and Leblon a bit more fun than Copacabana...a true classic though...

Great hotel. This is a very romantic place for a weekend. The staff is superb and if you have problems you are certain that will become a solution for it. The rooms are large, particularly the suite. If you like the beach, relax at the hotel's area, where you will have water and some shadow. The breakfast is great, spend as much time as you can.

We stayed at this lovely vintage hotel in 2011. On the whole it was grandiose and very classy. Service was pretty good. The cocktails by the pool were awful, most juices were mixed/diluted with water that we had to complain..also the nuts provided with the drinks were of inferior quality, i had to send it back..the clientele really quaint, lovely beach front, we used to walk hours on end. The Cipriani resto is really overrated, overpriced and not amazing, in my opinion, i had better Italian food elsewhere. I enjoyed the salad bar for lunch though
