“One Nighter”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

Overnight stay, before joining the Carnaval Package. Located 1 block from the beach, unfortunately not much of a view. A bit noise with the buses coming around the corner, however it was great to walk to the beach early in the morning.
There is generally, on going activity in the area so you feel relatively safe. If you one for a night club, there is one half a block down the road.

This hotel was recommended to us by our travel agent, she also said she has stayed there and said it was a good choice. I was expecting more, since the price is still higher than what we would pay for a nicer hotel here in the USA. I would describe this hotel to be similar to a small hotel in Europe. Nothing fancy, clean, but not white glove test clean. Their location is very good, especially with a short block walk to the beach, between both the Copacabana and the Ipanema. The breakfast, buffet style was pretty nice, food was good, again small hotel European style. The woman at the front desk needs to learn better English, especially since there were so many tourist not only from the USA, but also from Canada, The UK and Australia. She said she is just learning, but then she should not be at the front desk. That was frustrating. Most of the staff were friendly though and wanted to help, but the language barrier was a bit of a problem. If you choose this hotel, it is fair, but don"t expect too much.

Stayed here for 5 nights on a business trip and found it much better than some reviewers. You're not in Manhattan or Mayfair, so it is different. All the services worked as expected, and the staff were all very helpful. It doesn't belong to a hotel group but to a resident owner. Very extensive self-service breakfast that caters for all tastes, with Brazilian coffee.

Rooms: Each floor has its own wifi address, which is free, with download time about 1MB/second. Air conditioning is good. Hotel safes have detachable locks at extra cost - I think 3Rs/day. I didn't use mine but left my laptop money and passport on the table. Extra pillows are supplied. The beds are not smart but comfortable. The sink plug was off its chain but worked. Room cleaning was fairly quick. Sliding door to a tiny balcony, good for sea breezes.

The location in Arpoador is in between the Copacabana beach - 1 minute's walk and Ipanema beach - 3 minutes - which is ideal. It is at the end of Nossa Senhora street which is full of small shops and restaurants, and 5 minutes from the open market on Copa beach. Taxi fares: from the airport is about 80 reais / to the city centre about 30 Rs (no tipping in Brazil).

Apparently the owner has bought the building next door and the two are being merged / upgraded in time for the 2016 olympics.

There's nothing nicer than working from the roof terrace which is open from 9am, surrounded by Rio's spectacular mountains. This also has a small pool, WC and shower room when it gets hot. Coffee etc can be ordered from below.

Room Tip: The 8th floor was fine. In the 2 lifts, "T" is the ground floor and "R" is the r...

As seems to be the standard in Brazil, the rooms are Spartan and need a thorough upkeep. Noisy airco, flimsy sheeting and oldfashioned bathroom with the typical 'pluffy' Brazilian toiletseats. The swimmingpool is more kids size, so don't count on it. Breakfast at the tiny balcony is a pro. Internet is poor. Overall, the price/quality at BRL 330 per night is excessive.

This Hotel is too expensive for the service and the rooms conditions. Rooms are old and bathrooms are even worst (dirty and rusty) and no safe available (broken). On the other hand the position is good between Copacabana and Ipanema and it is good for excursions. They need to renew everything it seems an hotel of 40 years ago, there are some better options in Copacabana, for a little bit more money you can find an hotel in Avenida Atlantica.

Room Tip: Not on Rua Francisco Otaviano, floors like 10 and 11 to be preferred

I had to take a picture of the bath tub to show the reception staff the reason that I could not possibly stay in the room. It was awful and the room was very shabby. They changed my room, which was then acceptable, but not good.

The breakfast, staff and location are good.

Room Tip: Check the conditions first, ask for a room not facing the main road (especially if there is building...

Excellent location, clean and comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff - great breakfast ! Recommend that you get a room as high up as possible to get a view. Location is brilliant for proximity to beaches, restaurants and shopping, and staff vey attentive at organising taxis etc;
