My husband and I stayed at the hotel from 2/9/11 to 7/9/11 before continuing on to Foz de Iguazu.
The staff were most helpful and extremely courteous, especially the desk staff and bartenders in the pool bar (beautiful view at night!). The room was exactly what was needed, quite comfortable to come back to after your day in Rio, after all you don't go to Rio to spend all the time in your hotel room.
Air France had mislaid our bags and the staff were constantly on the phone trying to arrange a reunion, we didn't have to lift a finger or ask them, they gave us constant updates as we entered and left the hotel.
The food in the hotel was delicious and not overpriced compared to the restaurants in the city. The breakfast buffet consisted of everything one could ask for, whatever your preferences. And of course the coffee was absolutely delicious.
All in all, the staff made the hotel one of the highlights of our trip to Rio and I would recommend it to anybody travelling there. The beach is only a two minute walk when you leave the hotel and the Rio Sul shopping centre a five minute walk in the other direction with everything else a short walk away.

I stayed at the Copacabana plaza during my recent stay in Rio . I found the room a bit stuffy . for the value you pay at the hotel .. you dont get that much . rio is extreamly expensive . Also the hotel was not on th ebeach and one had to walk for 5 minutes to the beach .So no view of the beach , which is what one needs when staying in RIO . the breakfast was good. they charge for internet usage

We had a pleasant short stay at this hotel and unfortunately did not get to enjoy all the amenities. The staff was helpful and booked us a tour as soon as we got there. The location is closer to the airport and downtown which saved on the taxi fees. The beach was about a five minute walk. The room was comfortable and the bathroom had many amenities. Unfortunately, we had to be at the airport by 6 am so we could not take advantage of the hotel's offer of transportaton to the airport which operated at specific times. The buffet wasn't yet available but the staff said we could grab a few things if we wanted. When we come back to Rio, we will definitely consider staying there again but for a longer period of time!

I stayed on this hotel for two nights in a standard room. It has a good service and a friendly staff. Its location is a few steps to Copacabana Beach. It is a good hotel for business or tourism travelling. I just complain about the standard room: it's very small when compared with others that I have been stayed.

I stayed at the Windsor Plaza for one week from 27 June to 04 July, 2011, with my wife and 10 year old son. The hotel is modern and well maintained with good modern rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Check-in was quick and most of the staff speak - in addition to Portuguese - Spanish and English.

The rooms were an adequate size, though probably appear smaller as the double-bed was king -size; we also had a single bed in our room, 1215. There was two fitted double wardrobes and a free-to-use safety deposit box. There is also a fridge/minibar and a large flat panel tv that has three main English language channels: BBC, CNN and Bloomberg. Additionally, there are several free film channels that are in English with Portuguese subtitles.

The room window looks onto a busy street but is surprisingly quite - we were 14 floors above street level and this helped. The room lacked any tea/coffee facilties, so bring your own kettle if you want tea or coffee; - see http://electricaloutlet.org/ and scroll down to "Brazil" regarding electrical systems in Brazil.

The electrical system is 110v though there is a 220v in every room. At night we could here the water plumbing system in the adjoining bathroom, so keep your bathroom door closed if you're allocated room 1215.

There is an ethernet internet cable in the rooms, and while I do not know how much it costs there is on the floor above reception a computer internet room which cost R$0.23 per minute or R$13.80 per hour. ($0.14US or £0.09GBP per minute). There are several nearby internet shops that charge about R$4.00 per hour.

There area round the hotel feels quite safe and maybe surprisingly, there is no overt security like arned guards, police, eletricfied fences, etc, that are common in some parts of Latin America. There are numerous minimarkets, shops, bars, etc, nearby and the hotel is a few minutes walk away from the Copacaban beach and is quite close to the Cardeal Arcoverde metro station; see: http://www.urbanrail.net/am/rioj/rio-de-janeiro.htm.

Buffet breakfast is exstensive and the restaurant is open for (midday) lunch and (evening) dinner, The restaurant is a bit expensive but the quality is the food is excellent.

There is a taxi service from the hotel (ask reception) to the airports: the main international airport, Galeão-Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG), costs R$80 while the nearby Santos Dumont Airport, (SDU) mainly shorthaul domestic flights, costs R$30.

I liked this hotel if I go back if I returned to Rio de Janeiro.

Location is very good - a few blocks off the Copacabana beach. Definitely easy to catch a cab outside as it is near one of the major tunnels where tons of traffic filters through.

Room was quiet despite being right on a very busy road ( "Rua" as they say ). Staff were friendly and efficient overall. Room was moderately spacious and a bit old but was kept clean. Mine happened to have a weird second bathroom that served little purpose, but didn't really get in the way either.

Breakfast was included for me and was respectable, with some nice fresh fruit and quite a few hot items. For something unusual try the Cashew ( "Caju" ) juice, as it is the fruit of the cashew tree. The mangoes really were the stars of the show for me. Dining area has no windows and is slightly on the dingy side. Evening buffet was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Atmosphere is kinda blah - so many other places to eat in Rio, I would not recommend staying in any hotel for dinner.

Internet is by Wifi or you can plug directly into their ethernet in your room for much cheaper ( $14R/day if I recall vs much more for wifi ) . Of course, your smartphone won't benefit if you go for the wired option.

Pool is tiny and ornamental on the roof. Not a bad place for a drink perhaps but it was totally dead when I was there. I heard that the gym was ok.

Every aspect of the hotel is acceptable, but it all just ends there. In a pinch it will get you what you need. Choose a different hotel though if you want something special.
