When in Rio, get the view- absolutely breath-taking. Hotel was good enough- not worth the money except for the view. Renovated floors up higher (we were on 8) were nicer. Ours could use a bit of work, but it wasn't bad (if you've had any experience in Latin America). Internet- even in the business center- was a crawl. Don't waste your time or money on Wifi fee. Breakfast was good, but can't take a cup of coffee up to your room unless you order room service- at $6USD a pop! Ouch!
They were renovating the pool deck (bummer) and the pounding throughout the day was horrible. No sleeping in after a night on the town. All in all, nice enough, but would've probably preferred a stay in one of the many penthouse apartment rentals for the same or better price (and same view).

I choosed this hotel for its location, on Ipanema beach, one the best locations in Rio to combine the seaside and Business. My room was quite big with a big balcony, but quite old, really in need of urgent upgrading. Breakfast was ok, the service not outstanding but also ok. The worse was the internet connection, which was payable and did not work. Every 2 minutes I needed to log in again and it was soooo slow! When I left the hotel, I had 2 pages of "Internet connection" to pay. I refused to pay the full amount and found an agreement with the person in charge at the reception. A real pity, this hotel could be a jewel if more attention was given to service and amenities. Only the location can be recommended!!!

We had an oceanfront room with a balcony, but it was extremely noisy due to the street traffic below. The room was large, but just OK. The bathroom was clean, but small. The buffet breakfast was adequate. The pool area was small. The lobby/front desk area was also small, and I did not feel that the people working the desk and bellmen were completely trust-worthy. I got the feeling the bellmen were always looking for an opportunity to take advantage of us! I did, however, like the location, as we could walk everywhere around Ipanema, even to the Metro!

All bedrooms have balconies and we had one looking side ways at the Ipanema beach which meant we could also see Christ the Redeemer looking in land. Location looks amazing but can be noisy in the morning due to the proximity of the main road along the beach in front of the hotel (earplugs were needed!). Rooms a lot bigger than we expected with some modern features and good aircon, but some parts dated considering the price of the so called 'premium rooms'. Breakfast served on first floor looking out to the beach which was lovely. Bars on ground and top floor, and also small pool on roof was nice but we didn't use it as wanted to make most of the legendary beach opposite the hotel. Free loungers and umbrellas with the hotel on the beach but as we found out to our detriment the hotels equipment and staff can be easily confused with the many other vendors which charge a hefty price! Stones throw from cafes, shops, restaurants (in particular Gula Gula around the corner) of Ipanema and Leblon, and this area felt safe at night (unlike Cobacobana). Overall we would consider staying here again apart from the noise so if we went back we may actually look at hotels away from the beach front and main road - but if you want to be on the beach and central to the two areas of Ipanema and Lebleon then the hotel is ideal.

The company put me in this hotel for my first week working in Rio. It is a nice hotel, especially if you get one of the Luxury Premium rooms. Check-in was easy, and when I got to the room I was surprised by the modern decoration: it seemes to me that it has been through a makeover recently.

Bed was nice, although there were two single beds, and I'd rather sleep in a king bed. LCD TV, iPhone docking station, DVD player, it's all there. You can even wake-up with your iPod/iPhone, because the docking device is an alarm clock.

Room service is poor. It takes a long time to arrive, and the first time I ordered they brought the wrong food... Grilled cheede sandwich is the worst of my life - cheese wasn't melted at all.

Breakfast is good, but it could be better given the rates you pay. Also, there was an awckward situation: restaurant was full at breakfast time, and the waitress insisted on saving a table with a "reserved" sign for more than half an hour. Who makes reservation for breakfast tables?!?

Location and view are both great. You're accross from Ipanema beach, and 3 blocks from the fanciest shopping street of Rio. There are lots of good restaurants around.

In the end, during check-out, they wanted to charge me for calls that I didn't make.

Room Tip: Ask for the premium rooms - better view and larger rooms.
