“Nice Place.”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Very nice and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious. Great location. Rooms are very new and modern. The view was also very nice.

As the name states... they're all suites. I guess I just wasn't sure what we needed with all the space. If you're going to be spending an extended period of time in rio and want the extra room then this is the place for you. Otherwise wasn't sure why the rooms were so big.

Room Tip: make sure you face the beach!

The staff are wonderful, they really could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much for them.
The room was great with lovely soft sheets, an absolute must for me. The shower was fantastic, it almost sent me through the floor..loads of water!! The room was split between a day room with a sofa and a bedroom, so it was nice an airy and great for my baby to crawl around and play. It was also nice when we put her sleep to be able to stay awake ourselves in the TV room!!!
They gave me a lovely baby bath and toy for the littleone, and the cot was nice and modern with the matching trussard sheets...only the best for the baby too.
The location is fabulous, step outside onto the beach for a lovely walk or go around the back into the town with lots of shopping and places to eat and drink.

Room Tip: our room was 1402, it had a seperate room with a sofe, ipod tv etc on the corner overlooking the bea...

Hotel staff unfriendly and some even rude. Way over priced for the rooms, very old and poor. The restaurant surprisingly had good food. The best thing about this place is that location is ideal, right on Leblon beach. That is what you are paying for, not the hotel itself.

Room Tip: Best rooms are front ocean view on higher floors

Hotel is located near the far end of Leblon Beach. While this is supposedly a high end, popular neighborhood we found there were few restaurants in the area and we did not feel particularly safe walking at night in the neighborhood. I think the middle of Ipanema beach would be a better location for going out safely at night and for access to the nearest metro station. Leblon beach was nice, we felt safe there during the day and the hotel did have a kiosk that provided complimentary small chairs and a umbrella. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach. Our room had a side window with a view down the sheet to the beach. Better rooms look out directly at the beach. Seeing the beach culture is the highpoint of a visit to Rio which otherwise has little to offer the tourist. There is a tiny, dirty pool on the roof with a nonfunctioning bar and dirty glass wind breaks blocking the view of the beach. We did indeed have a "suite" with small living room, dining room with "kitchenette" and bedroom. Kitchenette consisted of a minibar refrigerator, small microwave, and 2 dishes, 2 cups and glasses and flatware for two. Small cold water only sink in kitchen. You could not use this kitchen to prpaqre even a simple meal. The suite was poorly furnished with cheap, tacky 1950's contemporary furniture which was uncomfortable, and stained. There were cigarette burns on the bedroom rug. The rugs were dirty despite the housekeepers best efforts. The "stereo system" had a cassette player which gives you and idea of when this suite was last reconditioned. Walls were stained with leaks around the two AC units. The AC in the bedroom broke and despite numerous requests it was never fixed before we checked out. The Restaurant on the second floor was actually very good with good service, we ate there twice. The bar on the street level also had good lighter food but not as good service. The front desk staff were nice, professional but not remarkably helpful. I think you could find a much better hotel in a more convenient part of Rio.

Room Tip: If you must stay here upgrade to one of the upper level custom suites and ask to see it before you a...

We stayed at this hotel during Carnival which is the most expensive time to visit Rio. The Hotel is a smallish in the public areas and the rooms are very simply furnished but spacious. The staff is what makes this hotel special. They are very friendly and accommodating. Carnival is a crazy time to be in Rio, but the staff never lost their positive attitudes, and the service was great. Location during Carnival is perfect. It is a stones throw to the beach and the staff will set up an umbrella and lounge chair for you. Try the Caipirinhas in their bar. They are delicious!

The front desk staff were friendly and helpfull.
The room was spacious and clean, but very modestly furnished. The bathroom needs a make-over.
The location is very good.
The public areas are very small.
The hotel is overpriced, it has 5 stars prices, but it is hardly a 4 stars one.

We stayed at The Marina All Suites Hotel for 6 nights (12/19 to 12/25) on the recommendation of our Brazil travel specialist (who made the booking).

The location is EXCELLENT; you really want to be either in Leblon or Ipenama as they have the best and safest beaches, all the good and hip restaurants, bars, shopping etc. Plus you can walk at night and feel safe (not so in the Copacabana area).
You cross the street and you are at Leblon beach. The hotel has its own stand with chairs, umbrellas and towels.

The reception staff and concierge speak excellent English, they are very helpful, make good recommendations and are nice. Since it is a small hotel, everyone gets to know you... The hotel has a laid back atmosphere, and is popular with Brazilians. It really feels like you are part of the neighborhood. We really liked that.

The hotel has a happening bar and restaurant scene (we tried it one night, the food was average). The breakfast buffet included in our rate was quite good.

Every floor has three rooms, with one room only facing the beach on each floor. We stayed in a renovated room (be careful, some floors have not been renovated) with a MAGNIFICENT ocean view. Our children were in a room with a partial ocean view. The rooms were very spacious. They each had a kitchenette area with a fridge. The beds were very comfortable, and the sheets and towels were marvelous. Bathroom amenities were decent.

Why the mixed feelings?
The building on the outside could use a "lift". The lobby, bar and restaurant area are decorated in a cute whimsical fashion, but the room decor was very basic. Even the updated rooms could use some sprucing up. Also, while the size of the rooms was very generous, the bathrooms were on the smaller side. Lastly, while the rooms and bathrooms were clean overall, they were not spotless (i.e, the rooms were dusty etc, etc,etc....).
