Was here for the world cup. We normally stay in hostels so this was a diff experience for us in brasil.
Safe area. Lots around. Easy to get to Ipanema Leblon, Lapa etc.
PErfect for world cup as fan festivities were in copacabana beach.
I prefer the ipanema/leblon area (where we went last year).
THe service is great, the staff are awesome especially the guys that walk around and do multiple things for you.
Recommend it for low maintenence travellers.

After reading the previous reviews I will say that fortunately we had a relatively good experience here. We stayed during the FIFA WC and booked this hotel about 9 months in advance based on what was available from FIFA and the tripadvisor reviews (which were all better than the other places that were available). We were here 4 nights and while I agree that the rooms need to be updated we did find them comfortable enough. Our party had 4 rooms. 2 were on the 1st floor, one on the 4th, and one on the 14th. Those on the first floor said there was noise but that the AC was loud enough and they were still able to sleep fine. So I think the noise thing is subjective. One of those rooms overlooked the street as well. While there were no views out the window for most of our rooms that's not what we paid for so I didn't just expect any kind of Rio view. The staff while frustrating at times was helpful considering how busy they were. A few spoke English which was very helpful. Our rooms were simple and clean and somewhat spacious. The bathroom we had was a nice size too with a nice shower (some complained there was too much water pressure but ours was fine). You have to get a blue key from the front desk if you want to use your safe as most of the ones in our rooms needed that blue key (one worked without the key). The location was good, we felt safe at night despite the definite sketchiness of the late night crowd. The metro is right there and there's a wholesale beer place down the street which was awesome. It's a quick walk to Copa beach and about 15-20min to Leme. There are lots of buses nearby if you need to catch one. The rooftop was nice, they have a bar but sadly no one attending it nor a TV (would have been great spot to watch the WC games). If I could choose where to stay again I'd stay in Ipanema or Leblon as I liked being in those areas more but staying in Copa does have certain advantages like the metro and easy travel to many attractions. Definitely do your research. The breakfast had a lot of options, we didn't try the restaurant for any other meals. For the price we paid during the WC I would say we didn't get what we would have hoped for ideally for the price but I would imagine most places were like that considering the outrageous prices. One of our rooms wasn't ready by the 2pm check in but everything else went pretty smoothly. Would be nice if they updated the rooms but overall it was a good stay considering Brazilian hotel standards.

Pros: Location close to the neach, a nice (although small) rooftop pool. Cons: basic rooms, outdated furniture, noisy air conditioning unit. But still better than the noise coming from the street (and I was on the 10th floor...), which is closed to traffic during the weekend and occupied by groups of drunk people (or, in my case, by soccer fans).

Pros: Good location, close to the beach, felt very safe. Very cold drinks in the refrigerator. Fully functioning bathroom.

Cons: Cramped rooms with outdated, decaying furniture. A slow and beaurocratic staff. Terribly slow elevator. The view from my room was of two unkempt buildings...very dismal. The air condition unit was noisy and the type that hangs outside. It was raining so all night long there was a loud drip hitting the top which made it nearly impossible to sleep. The restaurant messed up my order three times. If you compare the place to a hostel you might not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Avoid anything with a 05 number...these rooms have absolutely abysymal views on par with feeling lik...

We paid $1,000 for 3 nights' stay here. Our unpleasant experience at this hotel started when we arrived. We got there around 1pm, was told the room was not ready yet and it would take just a few more minutes. We waited in the lobby and watched a bit of football on TV. Not seeing the sign of any room being available, we went out to have lunch. When we came back from lunch, they took us to the room only to find the room was a chaos - no one has ever come to clean! They gave us another room in which we found only 2 beds - we have 3 people and had booked for a 3-bed room many weeks in advance. Frustrated (by now we had already wasted some precious time running around), we questioned the front desk about all these mix-ups. The 3 people at the desk looked at me like what's-wrong-with-that and what's-wrong-with-you?! No apologies whatsoever. Was then told they would install a bed when we come back from sight-seeing in the evening. But as I suspected, no extra bed was set up when we returned at night. Running around again to the front....the 3 people during the daytime have left for the day; the night-shift staff have no idea of what has happened.....
The worst was yet to come - the next morning, we found bug bites in our arms and legs. Brought it up with the front - nobody cares, as if what's-wrong-with-that and what's-wrong-with-you?! We demanded to speak with the manager. Hearing our bed-bug complaint, the reaction of the manager by the name of Armando de Morais was one that was defensive, in denial, un-professional. He was by no means apologetic. His attitude was patronizing, claiming his hotel has received many Japanese guests and no one has ever complaint about bed bugs. Absolutely no respect and professionalism to speak of! Not even up to the very basic service standard of a no-star hotel, not to mention one for a "4-star" which this hotel seems to pride itself to be. For a normal hotel anywhere in the world, just the mention of the word "bed bug" would raise serious concern. We seriously question Booking.com's rating of 8.1 for this hotel. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here on the opening night of the World Cup, and was impressed that we got into our rooms on arrival at 10:30am which was really appreciated after a long flight. Had a look a the rooftop pool, more of an oversized bath, and the gym is also here. Seems a bit of a waste, a decent bar for sunset cocktails would make better use of the space.
The rooms are functional, the staff at front desk helpful and as noted English speaking. One of the lifts was out during our stay, thankfully we were only on 2nd floor otherwise I can see some long wait especially around breakfast time. On the subject of breakfast, this was standard buffet fare and very acceptable.
The best thing is the location, a block and half from the beach, a short stroll to the metro and plenty of buses on hand.

Room Tip: High floors to avoid street noise, and Copacabana is noisy. Risk is lifts breaking down and with onl...

After traveling throughout Brazil for World Cup, it was a pleasure that everyone at the front desk spoke English!! Most of Brazil does not so it was refreshing. The location is great for the Fanfest but I must say that it was very loud!! Bring earplugs during soccer games or Carnival (From what I have been told). Breakfast good and the staff was great!

Room Tip: get as high up as possible to avoid the noise
