“Great Location in a Great City!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2013

This hotel is very close to Copacabana Beach and also to many good restaurants.

The reception staff were very helpful as regards information on attractions and how to get to them. They do offer tours, but to be quite honest it is easy and cheap to get round Rio using taxis and the main attractions do not need a guide.

The room was clean and very comfortable, with an enormous bed. There was a good variety of food for breakfast. The roof bar had very good views of the beach and if you peered round the corner you could see Cristo Redentor!

My only gripe was that the free WiFi was very flaky - one needs to put the latest pics of Rio on Facebook to show off the lovely city!

Stayed here for three nights on business. Previously stayed at the hotels on the front facing the beach eg Othon Palace, Windsor Atlantica etc , all about another $50 per night, but the Windsor Palace is very definitely a big step down in overall quality. To be fair, it's a good location -only 2 mins from the beach and 10 from the metro station, clean - though somebody was smoking on my floor so you could always smell it, and breakfast is OK.

However my room, 1305 was really tired, the bed was OK but other furniture really old and falling apart. The bathroom distinctly pokey and old, reminded me of some very old hotels I stay at in Cracow about 10 years ago, and I would not dare take my wife there.

If you are looking for a holiday hotel in Copacabana - skip this one and go for on on the front.

Stayed here at the end of our tour of South America. We arrived on a Saturday and were allocated a room on the 13th floor which had a slight view of the beach.
The room was spacious and clean if a little faded. Had trouble opening and closing the balcony door but eventually managed it.
Nice walk in shower. Really good magnifying mirror in bathroom too.
Views of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf from the roof bar.
Breakfast was very good.
Reception staff very helpful.
Location is excellent, with restaurants nearby and a small supermarket across the road.
Downsides were that you have to pay for using the computer in the lobby and they are carrying out refurbishment work on some of the floors and so during the week there is some noise until about 6pm

Room Tip: Higher rooms at the front will have a bit of sea view.

Don't stay in this hotel if you want peace. The air conditioning, poor sealant around the patio doors and the outside noise all contribute to a cacophony of disturbance.
Location great for the beach and buses though and staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast one of the best we had on our tour if South America.

Stayed during the Easter week. I'd chosen this hotel because of the ranking and reviews it had on Tripadvisor, and was not disappointed, although it was the only place I liked about Rio.
Excellent service, friendly staff, helped us with everything (places, security tips, etc.) . You may ask them for a city tour which includes visiting Christ Redeemer and the Sugar loaf ( English speaking guides, small groups, good value). A cozy room (ours was on the 13th floor and had a small balcony), cleaned every day. Excellent breakfast (fresh pastry, lots of fresh fruits). Good price!
Strong recommendation: stay away from the Copacabana beach. In case you HAVE to be there, choose a safe, respectable hotel for the security and services it offers. Windsor Palace is the one.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have a glimpse of the beach

Not to sure about the hotel when I first arrived but as the stay went on got to like it more and more. Ideal location to start from and within walking distance of the beach, the staff were helpful and good knowledge of the area. Rooms kept clean and all you could wish for at breakfast, amazing variety and something for everyone! No view as you would expect until you venture up onto the roof top bar and swimming pool (a must) At breakfast you dine with customers and business people alike I just wished the waiters would have had a smile on there face as they always looked as if they do not want to be there.

I stayed at this hotel from March 22nd until the 26th 2013. Good location! everything within walking distance, tons of bars and restaurants around, the bus stop to the different sites is just a block or 2 away.
Nice staff specially Danielle and the guys at the door which were always trying to help with information about where to go!
Good breakfast, free internet!
The only bad thing is that I made a mistake booking the last 2 nights, and eventhough we were the same amount of people from the check in to the check out, i had to pay 2 nights (usd160) for an extra person according to them :( Oh well I know next time!
Overall experience was good

Room Tip: Request a high floor
