, Don't stay in this 3&1/2 star hotel in a single room unless you intend to be out all day, & like to sleep at night with a noisy air cond in the hot, stuffy & small single rooms.
There is a small swimming pool. The breakfast bar is passable. The staff take some time to be efficient.
It is in a convenient location near to subway station and a multitude of buses travelling to and from Leblon & Ipanema beach areas.
.

Room Tip: try the double or twin perhaps

We didn't trust the reviews and stayed here anyway. We were idiots. This review will sound like hyperbole. It is not. We are experienced travelers and this place was unbelievable.

A male hotel staff member walked into our room in the early morning without knocking or announcing himself. To repeat: Strange men walk into your room at a whim.

The staff is aloof, entitled, rude, and underhanded--"slimy" is a good adjective. The rooms were not ready when we arrived, and when we did get our rooms, they were not the rooms we reserved. The entire place smells like a college freshman dorm: cleaning products, smoke, and bathroom odors. The rooms are TINY. The linens are of poor quality. There are no non-smoking rooms, and the stench permeates the place. There was a large cockroach in our room.

The Internet barely works when it's working, which is about half of the time. The pool is very small. The workout room is out-of-commission. The breakfast is awful (I had chicken nuggets and my companion had cereal in a coffee mug with warm milk).

The place is the antithesis of elegant. The ceiling had fallen down in the hallway outside of our room, and the repairman was plastering over the hole in the morning with his ladder directly in front of our room door. We visited in late November and the lobby looked as though kitschy Christmas had vomited all over the place (a Christmas tree decorated with strobing blue lights, a parachuting Santa hung from the lobby ceiling, etc).

We switched hotels after one night, even though we couldn't get a refund. The icing on the cake: The hotel charged an additional fee to call us a cab to our new hotel.

Room Tip: None of the rooms are good. Avoid at all costs.

The rooms are clean, the hotel is conveniently located to Copacabana beach, just 2 blocks back. The breakfast does the job. We never ate in the restaurant as we were too busy going out every evening to restaurants and bars. If you want somewhere that is clean safe and resonably priced then this is a good place.

I went to the hotel the second time on Oct-2012. The first time was in 2008. I was really disappointed because I had an other remember of this hotel. The room was small, the furniture was old and the décor was really old-fashioned. The swimming pool was out of service and this information was not available at the moment of my booking. One evening I tred to have a shower and it wasn’t hot water. When I called the reception the did not have kind reaction and I had to call couple of time to have more information. At the end I went out without take my shower and I let this known at the reception. They do not have apologized. In conclusion the breakfast was good, good location but the service was friendly enough not be called rude. I do not recommend this hotel.

Rooms - too small and uncomfortable. noisy window a/c's.
Staff- So unprofessional! Customer Service is non-existent. You'll feel like you're checking into a hostel. We wanted to visit the attractions by ourselves via public transport. But the front desk was totally unhelpful. Not even a smile at check in! They won't give us the simplest of tourist information since we did not want to buy any tour packages from them. That was shocking to me! They would not even tell us where the nearest bus stop is or where the airport shuttle stops!
Breakfast- was just okay.
They do store luggage for you if you want to go around town after check out. A positive.
Overall a disappointment. I would suggest to choose a hotel in Ipanema area.
Thank God we were here for only 1 night.

The front desk staff here were the worst we have ever experienced. They were rude, unhelpful and disinterested in any concerns we had. We asked for help with very simple tasks such as making an international call from our room (to deal with credit card fraud) and got minimal help, had to ask multiple times as the instructions given each time did not work. They did not want to help us book any tours, and could not recommend any places to eat with a child.

Unfortunately this really has tarred our experience here and would NOT recommend this hotel at all. They speak no other language but Portuguese which is surprising considering it is an international hotel and that they advertise they speak English as well.

We have stayed in other hotels in Rio and have never had such a difficult front desk issue. This front desk staff here are completely useless and disinterested. Do not stay here because of them! So sad since this hotel had so much potential.

The cleaning staff however are pleasant, efficient and friendly.
