In town for the World Cup final. The staff was super friendly and more than willing to give advice and recommendations. The breakfast was wonderful. Near a subway stop and large bus depot. Downtown with plenty of eating options and walking distance to clubs and nightlife. The wifi was consistent enough to make me happy but it did go in and out. All in all I enjoyed this place and would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony ;)

Arriving late at night, you walk down a lane way past homeless people sleeping on the pavement. When you get to the Hotel, the staff couldn't be bothered to acknowledge you. Once in your room, you realise the homeless moved out so the hotel can rip off World Cup visitors with dirty filly smelly rooms. Had to roll up my jeans to sleep on instead of the disgusting pillows. Slept in my clothes to avoid the sheets and saggy spring bed. There were two of us in separate rooms and both the same. Sorry mine was better. We were to go back there for 2 days to see Rio, however we left the country early and forfeited our money. We couldn't go back there. Good luck with the Olympics and don't stay here.

Room Tip: Don't go there

Stayed here for the world cup, as this was one of the affordable left over hotels in town. Hotel is old and not renovated. Windows have an opening at the top which leaves the noise in from neighbourhood. Yes the breakfast is better than the room, but is it good? Don't think so. A lot of homeless sleep in the same street and surrounding, if you look you are less adventurous, then look for alternatives.

We stayed here during world cup.
Location is great as in centre of Rio so can get to brilliant nightlife area whilst having easy access to metro for beaches.
The staff are so helpful. I can't praise them enough. They spoke a little English and couldn't do enough for you.
Breakfast was plentiful with lots of fresh fruit

Good quality hotel with easy access to Metro. Staff are fantastic. Spacious room with very good air-con. Great breakfast with lost of variety to get the day started well. Very good WiFi. Can be a little noisy outside on a Friday night but this is Rio! Restaurants close by with lots of variety of food and walking distance to Lapa Arches.

I stayed here for five days - would have left early if not for the prepaid reservation over the World Cup period (red flag: they also make you sign a statement about not checking out early when you check in). Of all the various staff we encountered during our stay, about 10% could be bothered to acknowledge guests, maybe 5% were friendly/helpful.

The rooms were dismal and very basic - would have been depressing if we had not been out for most of the day. The windows were not installed properly so could not close fully, the air conditioner was wedged in place by a fragile looking piece of cardboard. It was also very noisy inside the room with noise travelling from inside and the street (despite being on the 9th floor).

The general location is very good, close to Cinelandia metro, Rio Branco (Municipal Theatre, also a central avenue where most city buses stop), Lapa nightlife. The hotel itself is on a side street that is very narrow - some taxis will refuse to drive up to the front door and you will need to get off around the corner and walk past rows of homeless sleeping outside. Not dangerous, but not entirely pleasant either.

I would not recommend this hotel.

o hotel está localizado proximo a embaixada dos Estados Unidos no Rio de Janeiro. Regiao muito barulhenta o dia e a noite todo. Hotel muito simples, de pouca higiene. Bom café da manha. muito caro para este tipo de hotel.
the hotel is near the U.S. embassy located in Rio de Janeiro. Region very noisy day and all night. Very simple hotel, with poor hygiene. Good breakfast. too expensive for this type of hotel.

Room Tip: the room furthest from the street would be better because of the noise
