Owner description: The Plataforma Samba Show represents the rhythmic and colorful dances of Brazilian folklore, often featuring the prior year's Carnival winning Samba school dancers. There is the option to have dinner before the show, but the real attraction is the Samba dance performances.

“Better than last year”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

I go with my group to Plataforma every year. It's pricey but a lot of fun. Set your expectations for Rio's version of Vegas.

This year the show got a costume upgrade, even though most of the performers are the same from last year. The show is tons of fun and there is a lot of talent. This year they pulled up people from the audience (which they didn't last year). Show lasts 1 hour 15 minutes. The only annoying thing is that they sell pictures during the show (your pictures go on plates).

“Far Better than expected”
Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

We had booked then read reviews on trip advisor. Went with very low expectations.
BUT meal, service and ambience were good.
Venue was ok
Show was fantastic, performers worked at such a High level to entertain.
Costumes and dance/athletic moves were outstanding
Musicians and singers were fabulous
I think there is a conspiracy out there to denigrate this show??

“Bit disappointing!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

This show is OK and worth visit but it is all very glitzy and rather contrived. The costumes are amazing but there could have been more made of the fact that it told the history of Brazil. We had to work that out for ourselves and what each sketch was actually about. The drinks were expensive and the photographers are always around you wanting to take pictures of you with some of the performers and then sell them to you at quite high prices.
We did not have dinner there beforehand because we had been told that the food was only average.

“Colourful show - watch the lethal Caipirinha cocktails”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

We went with a tour of around 35 people in January 2014.

We had the (almost compulsory) photo taken of ourselves with a few of the show's performers (20RL).

We sat on wooden seats at wooden tables. The 2 hour show gave us a snapshot of Samba dancing - in different eras both in the past and current. There was certainly a variety which included solo routines, drummers and both men and women performed. The men were amazing with their strength and acrobatic skills.
The ladies colourful and exquisite costumes were absolutely spectacular - especially the finale.

Mind you, upon drinking my second lethal Caipirinha cocktail, I could barely keep my eyes open for the whole show but what I did see was pretty spectacular.

“A bit tired, slightly thread-bare, but still interesting”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

This is the standard samba palace that all the tour guides will send you to, and that all the tour groups go to. It seems like it's been around a hundred years, although of course it's more like only (!!) fifty years. It is very reminiscent of a similarly old place in Havana, Cuba, called La Tropicana. Only Tropicana has managed to retain its incredible charm all these years (probably because it's the only game in town of that nature in Havana), while this has not. The show, nonetheless, was pretty amazing, particularly some of the acrobatics and the individual singers and performers. I have no regrets about going . . . once.
