“to avoid”
Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

We were 3 guys and we stayed 5 nights. We paid about 1000 R$ per night !!! Probably cause by World Cup ...
We had a standard suite. It was a room with a two-place bed and a mattress. The room was such small than we had to put the luggage on the bed.
I have never seen a room as small as expensive !
Every night it was noisy cause the water installation defect.
Obviously we saw the owner only the first day to receive the keys and after we never saw him ... for me it is not hasard

Definitively to avoid

This is a nice and quite small hostel located in a great spot a couple of blocks from Copacabana beach and the metro station. The metro is easy to use, and we found this hostel a great little base to visit other places in Rio during our stay. The area feels reasonably safe, and within 50m if the hostel are restaurants, a juice shop, a drug store and an ice cream shop for all your late night needs.

We stayed in a private room with private bathroom. It was very small, but clean with hot showers and a comfortable bed. The room also had TV and air conditioning, nice little touches. The room was very dark when the curtains were shut and we slept very well. There is a nice little roof top deck, as well as a communal room with couches and a TV. There is a kitchen if you want to self cater. They also have a drinks fridge selling reasonably priced soft drinks, water and beer which was very convenient. Breakfast was simple but tasty - juice, toasted sandwiches, fruit.

The hostel was quiet when we were there, not many guests staying. There was always a staff member around to help when you asked, but with mixed approachability. They had a board listing suggested activities which was a good starting point.

We found this hostel great for our needs, but if you want to meet lots of new people to hit the town with in Rio you might be better suited hitting up a larger hostel.

Hostal with a very good location, three blocks away from Copacabana beach, metro station is also near.

Bathroom are very clean. The cleaning lady is very frendly and cleans everyday. Staff were always in their room, so if you need some information you have to knock their door.

Rooms are small, but each bed has a light and a place were you can lock your belongings.

Overall, it was good,

Firstly this hostel is in a brilliant location (just a few streets back from the beach) and is a good choice if it's your first visit to the city. I stayed in both a private room and a dorm room. I thought that the private room was just okay but certainly nothing special for the you pay. The 4 bed dorm was actually pretty decent and the shower facilities for the dorms were nice and clean. The breakfast selection wasn't brilliant but okay for a hostel I guess. They do have a couple of laptops available for anyone to use and some comfy sofas in the lounge area as well as a small roof terrace. I did feel like the staff could have been more helpful. If you wanted to ask anyone a question you had to knock on the door of the office and wait for someone to answer which might have put some people off asking anything. It's also worth mentioning that there is no sign on the door to say it's a hostel so, like me, you might think you are at the wrong place when you first arrive. All in all it's probably worth staying here for the location alone.

The hostel was clean and ideally located near copacabana beach. Friendly staff. Good value for the prices of hotels in the area. I just wished the kitchen was larger and the breakfast selection better.

Location simply ideal as a travel hub in this premier city, close to transportation and Copacabana and Ipanema quarters. The staff were extremely hospitable and helpful in arranging excursions throughout the city and beyond. Though the name says BnB, its truly a hostel where single travellers, like myself, could meet others from around the world and Brazil. The common area, though small, was very cozy and always busy each evening ... especially during football matches. I'd stay at Rio Deal again.

Room Tip: The four man mixed is next to the lobby and can get a bot loud. Try for the street-side six man mix...

Rio Deal is more of a hostel than a Bed&Breakfast the way I know them having spent a lot of time in New England but it is the cleanest, most accommodating hostel I have ever been to. It's slightly more expensive ($75 for a bed in a 6-bed dorm) than other options but it's centrally located in Copacabana, a high-traffic area of tourism just 2 blocks from the beach and another few blocks from the Siquiera Campos metro stop. The hostel and its rooms are air-conditioned which is such a luxury in hot/humid Rio conditions. The roof isn't much for hanging out but the living room and dining area have ample space and the kitchen is clean, spacious, and well-stocked if you want to cook there as well. I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner with friends (not guests at the hostel) and the staff were very accommodating. The hostel leaves out two laptops for guests to use and you don't even have to check them out, just use at your pleasure. I also borrowed an adaptor from the hostel office as they only have the round sockets and not the American kind. The entrance to the hostel has a locked door and a locked gate once you enter the building on the stairs which makes it feel very secure. There is also no hostel sign which makes it a little confusing to find at first (just look for the address above the door: 136A) but ultimately makes it safer in my opinion as signs sometimes attract unwanted attention, i.e. people trying to harass or mug tourists. The mattresses were very comfortable and I stayed in the 6-bed room that had ample space for everyone. We also got keys and locks for lockers under our beds plus keys to get in and out of the hostel at our leisure, so no waiting on in the street to be let in. Simple but good breakfast and from what I could tell from my five-day stay, Rio Deal attracts a crowd of very considerate, relaxed, and clean people. If you're not exactly into the party scene that lots of hostels host and promote, I would highly recommend you come stay here and look no further

Room Tip: If you're sensitive to noise, you should request a room facing away from the main street (Rua Sa...
