A must do! Make sure you get there early! If you are alone, don't be afraid to ask someone to take a photo. People are very friendly in Brazil! Getting a photo taken while you are up there is a must!

“A must see tourist attraction, too crowded”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

You should visit the Christ in Corcovado only if the sky is absoluitely clear and there is assurance that it will remain clear during your visit. Morning and afternoon hours allow better sunlight for views and pictures. If you decide to travel by cabletrain, you should book and pay your tickets in advance because the train gets very busy in week ends and high season and you may have to wait for two or three hours to have a seat. The problem with cabletrain is that you can not change the hour of your visit, and you may have to visit in cloudy sky or rain. The private vans offer greater flexibility, and they make a stop at the very beautiful Doña Marta View Point. The vans are well organized and go frequently. You will have to pay 20 reals for the trip in the vans, and you will have to queue after to buy the entrance ticket to the National Park where the Corcovado is located (31 reals). If you go by foot you can enter the Park for free, but you will not be able to climb the last steps of the Chist. In my opinion, the entrance to the Park and Corcovado is a bit of tourist trap and the organization is rather bad, and in fact I liked more the views from Doña Marta view point than the views from Corcovado. The visit to Corcovado used to be a christian pilgrimage for many people, but it is now so crowded that much of the charm of the place is lost. Anyway, it is a must see in Rio.

“Amazing experience - go early”
Reviewed 29 September 2013 via mobile

Go as early as you can in the morning - the queues start early and just get worse! Also it's harder to take good photos when there's so many people there.

We arrived early and got the second train to the top. Amazing views awaited us. Despite the crowds there is an amazing sense of serenity there.

The views are amazing and the statue itself has to be seen up close to be believed.

Watch carefully and you might see monkeys from the cable car.

“A must see!”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

Our tour operator got us up early for this visit and it was well worth it. The lines of tourists were already beginning to form at 8am and apparently get to be very long through the day.
There is a visitor centre and places to buy food and drink on the way up. The views from the top are fabulous and the Cristo Redentor will not disappoint you.
Look out for the Marmoset monkeys in the surrounding trees.
We followed our visit here with a trip to the local forest and a trip to a pretty waterfall. Nothing special, but a nice drive in the area of hills and windy roads. This is where the top cyclists train apparently. Plenty of them around.
