We have been traveling across Brasil and this is the worst hotel of them all. The location is great, but if you look hard you can find better hotels for almost the same price. Don't be fooled by the pictures, they don't show the rooms or the "suites" because the are the worst. The bunked bed are really bunked, they are three stories high but the first one is on the floor and probably your bed will be already occupied, that's what happens to us, so you will get the floor bed, the guy from the reception won't do anything about it. We also stayed at the "suite" which is by the pool and the bar, so the noise is crazy. In general the bathroom are horrible.

I stayed there for the weekend, location is premium, few blocks from the beach. The swimming pool is very nice as well as breakfast. The matress of my bed was not very confy but premium location covers this fault.

Room Tip: I stayed in a private room with one bed and a matress on the floor. My bed matress was not very good...

Value for money and great staff (Mercedes is too beutyfull and realy helpfull...)
Situated in the hart of ipanema this small Pausada is a good choice for young people that came for a good time and dont care too much for the problems/missfits that i saw in the comments on this Facility. Who choose to travel Brasil slleping in Pausadas know that you can not expect the service that is provided in a hotel and the difference in price says it all...
Regardles....great location, good staf, open kitchen 24H, pretty cleen...good price range..

The worse 2 nights I had. It was a disaster right from the start. We were told to stand aside when we walked in to reception as they were expecting their friend with a cake - so that they can sing happy birthday to her. Thought paying a bit extra for the en-suite would be a good idea but it was literally horrible. The bed had a sheet which obviously has seen better days and didn't even stay on the mattress. When we wanted to speak to the manager, she couldn't even bother to stop smoking to come in to the reception from the garden but was talking to us through the window. We were supposed stay there 5 nights but managed to find somewhere else and moved out as soon as we could. They didn't want to give us a refund either but they found someone else to take the room eventually and we managed to recover 2 nights and lost a night.

This might be an OK place for a very young back packer but it certainly wasn't the place for me. The only good thing about it was the location which at the heart of Ipenema!

First of all, let me say that I have travelled a lot across the world and to some pretty remote places and this is the first time that I review a hotel.  We've stayed there at the begining of april in the so called suite (basically a closet with a place for a double bed and a broom closet for the bathroom and this for 100$ us a night) and I can tell you one thing this place is terrible.  First, the guy at reception is totally unsympathetic.  When we arrived after our 10 h flight he did not want to let us check in at 11 and we would have to wait till one for the check in even though our room was ready.  When we finally got the room it stank, had mold in the bathroom and was dirty.  All our bags and some clothes had some kind of white chalk deposit on it.  We asked the guy at the front desk to rent some of the bike they were offering and after pretending to do some stuff on his computer, like he always does, told us there was no bike left even though we could see some in the back.  He also tried to make us charge for a bottle a water and soda we did not buy and not give us our money back when we bought something.  What a guy! The backyard is quite nice though and the kitchen and breakfast are not bad.  But what i look for in a accomodation is a CLEAN and QUIET place to sleep.  At night it can get a little noisy with some of the people wanting to party in the backyard even though it is not allowed after 10 pm.  Not great if you want a quiet sleep.  This place could be ok if you want to party and sleep in the bunk bed in the dorm, but for anything in the world do not book their private room.  For the rude management and bad room, do yourself a favor, spend a little more and go somewhere else!!!!

It's the place to stay if you're looking for party or just to relax in Rio. The staff knows everything there is to know about nightlife, tours and beauty hideouts within the city, and they are very helpfull too! The area is safe and you can always go for a stroll without feeling unsafe. It's perfect location (only 3 min walking from Ipanema beach) makes this place the best in Rio!

Room Tip: Stay in one of the rooms close to the sitting area in the back of the hostel. Go for a morning swim...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A few blocks away from the beach and located on the best area of Ipanema, Beach House, its staff and guests have been writing summer stories for more than ten years. Connecting cultures, receiving those who come from a distant place and introducing them to those who live around, here cariocas open their arms to present the taste of endless summer in Rio de Janeiro. The city heat mixes a lot of feelings into enough memories to miss it the whole year. This way, our stories build memories, feelings and friendship so deep and intense that they last a lifetime. The truth is that the sweet, salty taste of the beach make it worth all the other months for those who yearned the freedom of summer, even when it’s winter. Our blessed carioca land has the privilege to live summer for 365 days a year. Without hurry, you can stay and drink another beverage, because tomorrow will be a good day to go to the beach. This way, summer stories happened on January, during the carnival, on a weekend of May, during the Brazilian independence day in September, on the November nights and in all the other days of the year. What difference does it make if it’s Saturday or Monday when the sun waits for us with anxiety and the best parties are still to come? Being a scenario for all stories, in our beach house everybody gets together before the epic nights or by the pool, with feet inside the water and singing that beautiful well-known song. And the improvised foods – many times deliciously gourmetized? Suddenly, the waiter start to serve double of people, who snuggle and share all the stories already lived there. And, all of a sudden, someone can give the idea to climb a trail, to drink one more beer, and even an unexpected romance can begin. This way, hours passes by. More than a dozen stories join many others, and all of them being shared with the new friends. Beach House has been living all of this for more than ten years and it’s proud to be considered in Rio, Ipanema the house of summer stories. ... more   less
