“Decent Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

Not a bad hotel but the 4 stars are not there. It is in a very good location if you want to do business with companies like TIM Brasil, and near by you have at walking distance the beach.
Also ta walking distance and or with taxi or buses you can go to the different malls.
The double room is very small and generally speaking the furniture and all the rest is ok. Breakfast is good with good choices but every day exaclty the same menu.
WIFI don't work well specially if you want to use Skype, you have to go to the reception hall in order to have a stable signal. It has a SPA and a gim and a conference room but did not see it.
Swimming pool is ok.
Air conditioning is loud in the room.

Room Tip: Take the next biggest size double room.

It is a beautiful hotel although in a restoration process. I didn`t use gymnasium and pool.
Well placed in Barra, nearby mall, restaurants, other entertainment and beach. Easy to move, located in a great avenue.
Amenities are good.
Problem: the noise at room ... sounds incredible seems that you are inside the street!
My room key didn`t open in the second day… need to walk a long distance to revalidate the room key again, the lamp light in the desk just turn down in the second night.
Food is good, room service is fast and good. Breakfast is pretty good, I didn`t like the service, I waited for someone to clean the table and cutlery.
I was in a room with 2 single beds: small space for 2 people. Just 1 chair, 1 glass, no space for too notebooks connection…
Internet worked well at the 1st day, at 2nd day it was slow and awful!

Room Tip: My recommendation: ask for a room with balcony to inside hotel, without window to street, less noisy...

The location is good if you are planning to stay in Barra. For those that would like to go to traditional places as Copacabana and Lapa everyday, it is not a good option, you will need a cab for everywhere. It's close to the beach and has a nice breakfast, the problem to me was the air in the room, it was working but dripping a lot and my room got all wet inside and they were not able to solve.

Don't be fooled by fancy wording of the website. The hotel calls itself an "all suites" hotels. A suite in most hotels means a bedroom and a living room, Not here, a suite means a room with a bed, maybe a small kitchen area, a two seat sofa and a table and two chairs. They also advertise a wide "shower/tub combination". By admission of the front desk there is not a bath tub in the hotel. There is a fridge, microwave, gas cooker and sink for washing up. The only problem is there is nothing to cook in or eat from hence nothing to wash up. Not an item of cutlery or crockery to be had.

Three nights will be enough...come back the Sheraton all is forgiven.

Room Tip: Book another hotel

This hotel looks great on paper, but there are issues. Some rooms are nice, some rooms are not. I was lucky with a spacious suite with modern furniture, but the room was not clean. A colleague's room next to me was not so good. It was much smaller, dated and also not clean. The wifi internet also had issues. Very unstable and slow. A lot of people complained about this to the hotel staff, but they did not seem to care. Checking out in the morning is also very slow and other staff members do not step in to help at the reception when busy.

If these issues were to be addressed, it would be a great place to stay.

Stayed 8 nights in a suite here.it had a kitchen with microwave but no plates or utensils.
The suite was large with table for two, sofa and balcony with two chairs. The swimming pool was nice and the gym was well equipped. The selling point to this hotel is that you can walk through the adjoining property and catch a ferry across a small canal then walk down a road to the beach any other route is a half hour walk or 10 minute taxi. The hotel staff seemed loathe to tell us about this and on day 1 told us to walk without saying how far. This really summed up the staff who seemed to have no joy at serving their clients. I would suggest the promenade management book themselves into the new Links Hotel at GIG to see how they should train staff to deal with customers

Room Tip: Get a suite facing the pool back from the road

Being in Rio for a conference I basically only needed bed and breakfast.I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel being on a busy 6 lanes(more like 8) main road.We had a twin room which was just big enough for 2 people and suitcases as opposed to the suites which my friends had which was spacious.
Pros: Rooms over looked either the pool or the "forest" not the road, the main beach is 10-15 mins walk via a barge, the swimming pool.
Cons: Having to cross the highway to get to the shopping centres etc,to order a taxi the staff flag down a passing taxi off the street which in Rio can take 2mins or half an hour, and to go anywhere by taxi from here allow extra travelling time as traffic can be horrendous at times.
Even with the Cons I mentioned this hotel I would recommend as value depending on what type of room you booked.
