“Location to Lapa ideal”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

Thought the price of the room was a little high for what was offered. The rooftop view was nice, but the workout center was small and unappealing. The room was clean, but nothing too exciting. Location to Lapa is the best part and its nightlife close within walking distance. Helpful staff and speaks English. Breakfast buffet simple. You'll have to take approximately a R25 cab ride to get to Ipanema beach. WiFi is an extra charge.

Great room, service, rooftop pool and bar with views, security. Good location with easy metro/bus access to everything if you are ok with being away from beaches. Decent breakfast.

We stayed here only a couple of months ago, and found the hotel to be good value for the money. We came back for Carnival 2012 and chose this hotel for its central location. This proved to be a very good choice, as Centro and Cinelandia are party central for Carnival. Massive gatherings happen just around the corner from the hotel - either in the square in front of the Teatro Municipal or a block away in the shadows of the Arcos de Lapa. Loud music, cold beer and street stalls serving all kinds of food make for a very festive atmosphere. The hotel provides armbands as an added security measure indicating that you are in fact guests of the hotel. The sambadrome is only a short Metro ride away for whichever night you choose to attend the incredible "desfiles das escolas de samba". The rooftop bar and swimming pool are a great place to relax in the afternoon while preparing for another evening of celebration in the cidade maravilhosa. And bartender Leandro does make the finest caipirinhas. Through it all the hotel remains cool, comfortable, quiet and a safe oasis from the noise on the street outside.

Room Tip: Try for a room a couple of doors down from the rumbling elevators.

Great location for carnivale if you like to party (near where many of the parties are but with good sound insulation) and the desk staff speak good English and are very helpful.

Can't recommend this hotel enough - and can't understand why it's so cheap. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Other facilities were fine - breakfast was fine but it's south America - so if you expect much more than cheese and meat, you're on the wrong continent however there was still bacon, cereal and eggs.

My wife and I traveled with another couple to Brazil and Peru in July 2011. With only 1 night to stay in Rio we decided to stay at the Windsor Asturias. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very cordial and easy to deal with. The breakfast was great. We didn't get much time to look around the area but it was easy to access from the freeways and other major streets. We also didn't get a chance to try the pool as it was the middle of their winter. For the price we paid per room, $150 US, I think it was a terrific value and would certainly recommend it.

My mother and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We arrived early in the morning by an air france flight from Paris and the room wasn't ready for us. We went to beaches and came back around noon and were informed that the room was ready for us. The room was well decorated and comfortable. It's not big bit not to small. The view from the room is rather limited as it is blocked by other tall buildings in downtown Rio. The bathroom is fairly spacious. The hotel is very clean. The rooftop is small. I went to see the swimming pool, which is very small and there's a sauna next to it. I didn't use either the pool nor the sauna. From the top, you can see the Corcovado as well as the Sugar Loaf. We didn't take the tram to Santa Teresa though the station is within a walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast at the hotel was very good. Staffs are friendly. This is my second time in Rio and I am glad that I chose this hotel.

I stay 5d at this hotel, I had a good experience there, clean room, good breakfast, good rate for exchange. I just want to comment about noise level at the rooms, you can hear everything even the elevator engine and the shower of the others, I remembered a travel in a military submarine. The other fact is the expensive internet service, it must be free as the 99% of other hotels that I have hosted. Location is fine because Cinelandia metro station near.
