I have been to Outback restaurant both at Botafogo and Niteroi units. As most Outback restaurants I have been around the world, its pretty "standard". The food/ meal tastes good, but lacks originality...The famous "deep friednonion rings" could serve as appetizers, but definately not healty at all.
In my humble and honest opinion, these kids of restaurants are "gourmet" version of fast food. The service is robotic, ( just like the smile of the waitresses ) and to enter, on the two times I visted ( Botafogo and Niteroi ) I had to wait for at least 30 minutes. Just not worth it.
The only really positve aspect I recommend is the beer, which is indeed very cold and refreshing, as well as the express coffee.
In Rio, there are certainly many other authentic and creative options for lunch or fine dinning. Ones, which are not "factory / industrial " meals...
