Solar Pipa has a good price/quality ratio – its very close to the main street of the village Pipa– the only disadvantage in this is the steep climb if you have to return from the center to the hotel. Very close to all the good restaurants like Aqui, Pacific, Tapas …
The rooms are spacious, many staff members have a basic knowledge of English – rooms have all amenities though they are not luxurious – the hotel management is Italian, the manager is correct but not extremely friendly - the pool is clean when we were in April the hotel was not fully booked so the pool area was reasonable quiet. At the pool and reception area there is free Wi-Fi but internet is slow. The breakfast is good, enough variety.
April to June is the rain season and when we were there we had a lot of rain – in the 14 days we stayed in Pipa there were 10 days with one or more showers and 2 days when it rained for a whole day – in small towns like Pipa there is little distraction when it rains. In the region around Pipa there is too little attractions. The prices in Pipa are for Brazilian standards very high – for a dinner with a one course meal and no wine you have to pay around €20, pp – for a regular glass of wine ( house wine ) around €5,- a glass which is definitely more expensive than in most countries in Europe. The quality of the dishes are reasonable high, but the menu’s of the different restaurant look alike - after a week, you have eaten almost all dishes – personally we preferred the quality of Pacific but this is also one of the more expensive restaurants, the best price/quality ratio we had at Aqui – we had a good pizza at Papillon, beside those restaurants we ate at Tapas and Agua na Buca ( those two are probably one of the more popular restaurants with brazilian tourists) and at “ X “ which is a good restaurant but to our view a not that well price / quality ratio and the decoration to the restaurant could be a lot better – we would not return to Pipa – if you calculate, plane, hotel, food and drinks, it is cheaper to visit an all–inclusive resort - personally I think if prices and the Real would continue to gain, European tourists will avoid staying at Pipa or avoid travelling to Brazil only for the beach - about 5 years ago we stayed in Jericoacoara and honestly for us Jeri was more authentic and relaxed than Pipa – I would return every year to Jeri if it was closer to a big airport
