“Lucky find”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

We found this hotel quite late in the day when leaving the Teton area. It is right beside highway 89. Service at the reception was good. The reception and restaurant areas are rustic and benefit from open fires which were a welcome as it was quite cold when we visited. Our room was in a block away from the main buidling so there was a bit of a walk to use facilities and in the rain that could be a bit inconvenient. Our ground floor room had a veranda and excellent views of the countryside on a summer day I expect this would be an excellent place to sit and relax. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and well maintained. Breakfast in the morning was a bit of a disappointment with supplies of basics including cutlery running out and it could be difficult to catch a member of staff to provide you with what you needed. Choice for breakfast was limited. We ate in the restaurant for both nights. The food was good but the server not so. We were not offered bread the first evening, both nights the server forgot to tell us what was no longer available on the menu so we had to make alternative choices and she put the bill on the table without asking us about dessert. The food however was excellent.

HUGH Room, lots of character. Very Nice amenities throughout. Guest business computer was not functional but that was the only issue. Had dinner at the restaurant as we arrive quite late. Soup and salad bar was fine for me, everyone else had meals and were pleased. Nice facilities if you are staying for a bit, we were off the next AM.

We checked in after dark so we couldn't see how pretty the areas was. We could have opened our window during the night and heard the river flowing, but couldn't see what was out there until morning. We were pleasantly surprise with the clean, spacious, well furnished room. I would happily stay here again. The resort side looked very nice.

this is the second time we have stayed at flying saddle resort. it is clean and has a decent restraunt. The pool and hot tub are very nice . Liqour store attached. whats not to like . good food. good accomodations indoor pool and hot tub. Decent price. The drive into jackson is so beautiful or you can go the back way and see the eagles nests on the light poles by the lake. Beats a 200 dollar super 8 any day. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: handicapp rooms are on the lower level. no elevator. they do have a laundry and fitness room too.

The Flying Saddle's web site really need a facelift as it doesn't do justice to the property or the rooms. There isn't enough information about the room or what facilities they have.

Check-in was easy and pleasant and we were given a map of the site and the location of our room. We had a ground floor river view room which was roomy (apart from the bathroom), plenty of draw space but only a few hangers in the closet. There is a small microwave and a smallish fridge which were useful to have. Beds were reasonably comfortable and the pillows were not bad either both of which are dependent on personal preference.

There is a small balcony with a couple of chairs and a table which would have been nice to use if the weather had been more pleasant. The first time we looked at the view an osprey could be seen across the river.

We tried the breakfast which at $9 was pretty good. Not a huge selection of items but what was there were much better quality compared to the free offerings at some hotel chains. Thee coffee was pretty good too. Pancakes were also rather nice.

The food in the Steakhouse was good too. We had a salmon special ($24) and a Jack Daniels New York special ($27) which we felt were good value (compared to what we would have paid for something similar at home). They also had on draft Mirror Pond beer, one of our favourites, which was a bonus. We had to wait for a table which is fine but there are several tables for 6 and the rest were all for 4 people so if there were two people a table was wasted. Some smaller 2 seat tables would make sense. The main issue was the service once we had a table. We ordered our drinks and meals and then waited an age for the drinks to arrive. The salad then arrived followed shortly after by the main course. We weren't offered bread/rolls like all the other tables were. Then before we had finished our mains we were given the check! A minute later we were asked if we had signed/paid for the meal. Obviously we weren't expected to have a desert. Obviously we weren't expected to have another drink or coffee either. The restaurant wasn't about to close and they weren't waiting for the table. Appalling service was rewarded with a zero tip. Did enjoy the food and beer though.

The second night we ate it the bar which has the same menu. Had the skewered prawns and the ribs. Both were really good as was the service.

Overall we were pleased with our stay and the price is much better than if we had stayed in Jackson.

We are staying in cabin 202. It is a log cabin that is really quaint. The river is right behind us with chairs to view any wildlife that ought be there. They have a wine store on sight which is really handy to get a chilled bottle of wine. I love this place, will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The cabins are a little more money but definitely worth it.

Just 25 miles south of Jackson and much less expensive than Jackson accommodations, Flying Saddle Inn is a perfect location for visiting the incredible Tetons and surrounds. Vistas from upper rooms are breath-taking - Snake River and Rockies! Clean, reasonably priced, good restaurant and bar. Indoor pool, spa, exercise room, beer & wine store, etc., etc. We've stayed there several times! Will do so again!

Room Tip: Upper rooms with view of river!
