I really liked this hotel. The Snake River runs behind it, and there are a few chairs overlooking the river. There is a very nice indoor pool and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the western decor in the rooms and public areas. The grounds have flowering plants and benches, giving the hotel a well-cared-for appearance.

we decided to stay here 2 nights this year. We accidentally found this place a couple years ago. Tried to return last year and learned that reservations are a must. It has a huge pool, hot tub, restaurant with awesome menu.... we will be back next year the rooms have balcony looking over the Snake River. or the mountain side, which is less expensive. close to Grand Tetons, Jackson, beautiful drives around. They have a small drive thru liquor store, which we thought was unusual, only to find many drive thru liquor stores in many resorts in the area. They have a small store with lots of beer and alcohol but not a lot of snack selection. We were served by Tara in the restaurant. She was very pleasant and brought our food within a reasonable amount of time. She gave us some insight to the area as well.

Beds were comfortable. We stayed there for 2 nights but spent very little time in the room. Everything worked as expected. We were on the 2nd floor and we appreciated the extra space in the balcony, which faces the parking lot. It had walls on both sides of the balcony so we felt comfortable sitting there with privacy, eating our breakfast, resting after a day of hiking, etc. Being able to open the sliding door leading to the balcony also improved ventilation in the room.

We ate at the restaurant both nights. There were sufficient choices on the menu and the prices were not too outrageous. However, I'd recommend against the beef stroganoff ($25) because the sauce was very very salty.

Downside: The air conditioner was quite loud and not very efficient.

We stumbled onto this place by pure accident and glad we did.

The grounds are awesome with two ponds, lovely seating area for enjoying the mountains, a western restaurant, and a cozy bar both with fireplaces.

The front desk clerks are welcoming, shucks "pardner", I felt home on the range.

The room is spotless and comfortable. Yes, it is stuck in the 80's and needs a décor redo in the rooms, but I have forgiven that.

This is such a nice place and not that far from Jackson Hole and it 's HUGE prices. Come here instead and enjoy the "lodge experience" for very reasonable prices..

Room Tip: Depends on whether you want to be close to the restaurant or further away.

We had stayed in this hotel twice in the past and would have given it 5 stars on those trips. On this trip it was disappointing. The room smelled like cigarettes and the shower was pitiful; no water pressure made it like showering with a water pic toothbrush. They had added a beautiful pool which the kids loved and the showers there were good so I showered there rather than the room. The staff was wonderful and the setting is fantastic. Jackson Hole is way too crowded and overpriced so Alpine is a great oasis in that respect. The kids wanted to swim so we skipped the restaurant and bought fried chicken at the local market instead.

I stayed 3 nights at the FSR the second week of June. It was great value and not a long drive from Jackson (36 miles south, all on a nice highway running parallel to the Snake River). I was often the only guest around! A room on the second floor overlooked the Snake River (more narrow than I thought as it gets ready to enter Idaho), just past the parking lot. Mountains were just beyond that. I sat on the balcony and watched deer and elk on the sides of the river, and at night watched a fantastic storm with lightening!

Marina (dining room), Kim (reception), Nicole (front desk), Sessily (shop and "drive-thru" liquor store) and Eric all were super helpful. The summer staff of European students was all very friendly too! I arrived at nearly 11 PM and, although the lobby was closed, there were clear instructions and my key waiting for me in a secure location. The room was large and very clean. Parking very close to my room (straight down from my balcony).

The breakfast buffet was a little limited, but I likely arrived after the busload had eaten. Coffee was complimentary, which is what I really needed. Good French toast, etc. Dinner menu featured a good selection. If the dining room was busy, eating in the bar was an option too.

Grounds were spread out and nicely landscaped; tennis courts and pool were centrally located. Lots of flowers and birds. The only time it got noisy was when a busload of guests pulled in about 11PM and there was lots of loud chatter as they all made their way to their rooms. It quieted down quickly, and I never heard them leave in the morning.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor on the river side are nice. Cabins looked cute and would be super quiet!

Our rooms overlooked the river and the mountains. Great food in the resturant. Staff very nice and accomodating. The hotel is beautifuly decorated. Great value and the grounds are nicely kept. A young summer worker helped us with our luggage to a great second floor room.

Room Tip: No elevators so ask for lower floors if you have lots of luggage.
