We spent 3 nights at the hotel. What a great staff, place, food and nature! The kids loved the pool area. The indoor pool was a pleasant place to wake up in the morning. The Minimundo was also cute. We went horseback riding at Fazenda Passo Alegre - a genuine and great experience in great nature. The hotel helps arranging trips. Coming back to afternoon tea with cakes was a highlight. The dinner was very well made. Great value for money.

This is by all criteria the best place to stay in Gramado, in the Brazilian Deep South. Rita Höppner has an excellent service, the German-styled rooms are cute, clean and cool, especially if you get one with a private warm pool. The Mini-Mundo is a must. The walk around the lake and neighborhood is real fun. I highly recommend this place for anyone from 3 thru 93 years old!

I had been 20 years ago at Ritta Hoppner. It was important to me to stay in the old part of the hotel, old stylish German little houses. They are great. tea times remains the same: an absolute must. Service is perfect.

Gramado is the city in the world I love the most. Everytime I go there, I try to stay in a different hotel. In 2005, I chose the Rita Höppner. This hotel is marvelous in every possible way. It's a little boutique hotel managed by a German-Brazilian family who is very proud of its origins. The place looks like a Bavarian traditional cottage, painted in Bauermalerei style. The interiors are even better. The dining area and living room are beautifully decorated with German patterns, and even the handcrafts were brought from Central Europe. The rooms are located in bungalows. Each room has a name resembling a fairy-tale story. The rooms are very nice: they have a little sitting room, a round-shaped bed, TV and DVD. Please, pay the extra and get a room with a private swimming pool... this was the best thing about the hotel! The bathroom has a kind of mini swimming pool, with a cascate and heated water. Nothing could be as pleasant as this... Gramado's nights tend to be chilly even in summer, so the thought of having a hot pool waiting for you before going to sleep is simply marvelous. There's also a big swimming pool in the garden area, but I find Gramado's summers not hot enough to swim outdoors.
About the service, the breakfast is buffet like. There is bread, some cakes and cookies. It's not the greatest breakfast, but it's good and everything is tasty. If you're in the hotel around 5 pm, the maid will take tea and cookies to your room. If you're not there, she'll leave everything prepared inside the room for you to serve yourself.
Finally, if you stay in the Rita Höpnner, you can go to the Mini Mundo for free, as this theme park is also owned by the same family. The park is very nice but it's not big and it's quite expensive for what it offers to tourists, but inside there's a nice shop that sells souvenirs brought directly from Europe. I bought some Dutch handcrafts which are really lovely.
All in all, the Rita Höppner is a great choice when visiting Gramado. It's not a cheap hotel and it has become more and more expensive since I've been there, but if you can afford it don't miss it. And don't miss Gramado, either, the most lovely city in South America! Thanks for reading.

The accomodations consist of bungalows placed in a large garden that surrounds the reception building. The hotel and bungalows are built in bavarian style. The room was very cozy and couldn´t be more charming. Also very spacious, seemed like a small house. The breakfast is simply fantastic with so many options that you can´t taste them all. In the afternoon they serve a tea and cake in the room with no charge. The staff is so friendly you might never want to leave. The family that runs the hotel also built a park called Mini Mundo (Tiny World), a city attration that´s located around the corner, and hotel guests have free entrance.
