A great family beach, with a good infrastructure, and calm sea.
But don't eat in those restaurants, they are overpriced!!!

Barra da Lagoa is the perfect choice for those looking for a quiet yet adorable place.
The town is compact still offering dinning options, supermarkets (some of which accept credit cards) and buffet places (either to go or to dine in) by kilo (fixed price by kilo, so pick your meal and final price will be based on tge weight of what you put on your plate).
What I found particularly charming about Barra da Lagoa beach is that is you walk just 5-10 minutes ago away from the main area you get to be completely on your own, enjoying the sea, the view of the "morros" and the virgin vegetation.
Everything you need is concretated within a short walkable distance.
Definitely worth enoying!

Really nice place to just chill out and enjoy the small town and large beach. Lots of places to stay and restaurants. There is a surf school at the beach and plenty to see and do in the area. recommend you cross the blue bridge over the canal and turn left to find a smaller less crowded beach.

I went to Barra for a week holiday in July while I was working in Brazil and it was definitely a highlight! If you have the chance to go, I would highly recommend it.
The scenary, food, beaches, crowds, surfing and atmosphere was very memorable.
I was in Brazil for 6 months and most of my best stories/memories are from either Barra or Rio. You will enjoy you're time there, regardless of your trip's purpose.
