“Delicious Japanese food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

We went to Black Sheep over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the unique flavors. We tried the tasting menu of 7 courses, which included sashimi, sushi, different fishes, and dessert. Each course had different flavors, some of which I would not expect from Japanese food, but all were delicious. Nice change of pace from the usual sushi rodizio. Great meal, would definitely return.

“Terrible food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2014 via mobile

I had heard good things about this restaurant. It is true that it offers a beautiful view. It is also cozy. And the deco and lightning reminded me of Jules Verne, the restaurant on top of the Eiffel Tower.
On the other hand, the food was far from great. We ordered the "Menu Confianca", a surprise tasting menu of 7 dishes. The sashimi dishes were ok, nothing special but it was acceptable. The sushi dishes were TERRIBLE - to begin with, the fish was not fresh, to the point that it made me feel a little sick after trying it. Besides, they served the exact same dish twice, but the first one had a very bad presentation and the fish was much older than the second. We couldn't help but think that the first dish was "refurbished" from another table. We complained and the lady with a foreign accent who seemed to be the manager simply asked if we were done with it and took it away - without serving something else to replace it or even saying she was sorry. At the end, the waitress said that since we had mentioned we don't eat deep fried food, there was no option of dessert for us, but we could ask for repetition of one of the sushi or sashimi dishes. So we went home from a 7 course tasting menu dinner without having dessert!
Even though the view is beautiful, I surely would not recommend anyone to eat at this restaurant.

We loved the Black Sheep Sushi Bar so much we had dinner there on three occasions during our eight night holiday in Florianopolis. On each visit we had the Omakase chef's seven course selection (the content varied somewhat from night to night). The tastes and textures were amazing - all dishes were very light and healthy - and very fairly priced at R$75 a head. Very welcoming and professional service made for a very pleasing experience. Serving food of this quality, the restaurant would more than hold its own in any other international location. If came as no surprise to learn that the owners / chef had worked at the Mykonos branch of Nobu.

I visited this restaurant on dec 2013 while on vacation. We tried the omakase menu, a 7 course chef choice meal. You couldn't get the delicate aroma of fish since every single dish was full of some kind of sour sauce. I've never had a similar experience with Asian food. We ordered a bottle of wine that costed 240R$ (80€!), and this was the worst part of the dinner. Wine was disgusting, you can find that level for 3€ at the supermarket. If you sell a bottle of wine for 80€, in a restaurant of this level, you should at least provide your customer with an adequate choice and make sure that your waiters know the vintage of the wine. Total price: 390R$ for 2 people, roughly 65€ per person. For such a price, you can find really something better in Floripa, but also in Europe and in the United States.
