“Rooms left something to be desired”

The hotel has a smart restaurant and reception area and the apartment style rooms were large but the overall impression was that it needed updating. The carpet needed replacing and the TV needed retuning. The aircon unit was noisy so I had to turn it off at night. I went to take a swim and the pool appeared to be full of green slime so I'm assuming it was out of action but no signs up. Breakfast was good and front desk were excellent, just the rooms need sorting out.

The staff at the Mercure were very friendly and helpful. They deserve a better hotel. The rooms were in better condition than I'd imagined with bedroom, bathroom and large lounge/kitchen. The utensils are sparse in the kitchen area with barely enough cutlery and plates. You may wonder why the gas hob is so clean - that's because there are no pans to use on it! Breakfast is very mediocre but with a supermarket only a few minutes walk away, you are better off buying your own.The lighting arrangement in the corriders is very bad. They're activated by motion sensors but unfortunately they are not frequent enough. A lone female might feel rather vulnerable getting out of the lift or opening their room door to complete darkness. Jundiai, I suppose, is a typical Brazilian town but you still don't expect the nightclub right behind the hotel with music from 9pm - 5am Fri./Sat. - followed by gunfire, cars crashing, shouting and screaming. We slept right through it! - but our neighbours were awake all night and a bit spooked. As I said, 'An interesting place!'

My supplier in Brail set this up for me, and since he was driving, i didn't have a lot of choice. It is a suite, not obviously dirty, but not inviting, there was a bit of a balcony, though, and it looked out to a church.

It has a little refrigerator and microwave, but there aren't any nearby places to eat or shop, so it wasn't used. They have a room service menu, but they don't say that the restaurant closed some time ago. No one would answer the phone in the lobby. Breakfast is R$15.00 (about $6 American) and not even worth that.

One of the things I disliked most besides the slow elevators and hidden stairs (I never did find them), is the dark hallways. European hotels will have dim lights then will light up with motion detectors, but this place was pitch black until you walked into it. So someone can be still and the lights would go off. I'm not typically paranoid, but this was spooky.
