Fee: Yes
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Located in a Victorian-era structure reminiscent of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Catavento Cultural is chock-full of interactive, hands-on exhibits and educational activities for children. Subjects covered include space, wildlife, geography, the human body and society. They are presented in action-filled, engaging fashion for the little ones. The surrounding neighborhood can be a bit sketchy, so taking a cab is recommended.

“Go with the kids!”

An awesome science-interactive cultural center.
Excellent to wake up the curiosity of children, and it's quite cheap too. Well located in the city center, and various interactive activities.

This place is beautiful by itself, another thing, it is in front of the "Mercado Municipal", just a 5 mins. walk.

“Really one of the few attractions in Sao Paulo that doesn't disappoint”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2013

Sao Paulo is not a tourist town and Brazil as a whole does not cater to foreign tourists ( they have a huge untapped internal market ) This is one attraction that is beautifully done ! The building that houses the museum is a historical landmark with interesting architecture. The exhibits are well done and informative. The interactive science section is fun for kids and adults . You can cap off a visit with a climb on the rock climbing wall. We live in Sao Paulo and have visited several times and have enjoyed each one ! A great way for adults and ids to learn about Brazil along with other science !

“Magic for kids and adults”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2013

Although located at a non-attractive place (ugly, a bit dangerous), the building and the conception of this museum is worthwhile the "risk". Science to all ages, interactive. Impossible not to learn or have fun. Good parking lot.
