I stay at the Emiliano whenever I get the chance. It's as well run as any hotel I've ever stayed at--as good as any Aman, Dorchester, or Four Seasons. The hotel feels more like a well appointed home than a hotel and the entire staff is extremely well trained, always exceeding any expectations and anticipating anything I would need.

My one minor warning about the hotel is about upgrades. I am a member of various clubs, have various credit cards and am used to being upgraded. When I joined the Leading Hotels of the World, I joined because I saw that the Emiliano was a member. Since then, I've stayed at the hotel a number of times and have never been upgraded. I asked about this and was told that the hotel is an all suite hotel so they don't upgrade from one category to another even if they have an empty room.
This policy is fine now that I know it, but a huge part of my experience of a hotel is based on expectations. So if you expect to be upgraded, you will likely be disappointed. That being said, the smallest rooms are still very large and very nice (but don't have a bath tub).

It's true that the hotel doesn't have a large lobby or gardens, but the outstanding service more than makes up for those missing elements. The dinning room has a spacious feel, almost like being outdoors, great food and service. The style of the rooms are a bit too modern for my taste, but they had had everything one needs for a luxury stay. But, for me, my favorite part was relaxing in the lounge chairs in the spa/ fitness area at night and watching a helicopter land on the rooftop, just one story above. Also, loved the music played in the public areas.

We met collegues soon becoming friends for dinner. Service was attentive and professional. Drinks and wine superb. Then the meal was out of this world. Had me the suckling pig and it was devine. Highly recommended but this is pricey so remember that.

Emiliano is an exclusive and at the same time welcoming hotel in São Paulo, perfecly located in the Jardins on Oscar Freire. The rooms are light, pleasant and spacious but the best is reserved for the very warm staff. Recommend for business mostly.

The service from the restaurant is excellent, with international food standard. We had a wonderful quite and satisfying breakfast. Overall the common areas such as reception, lobby, restaurant and elevator lobby are narrow and small. The interior decoration is average and predictable, not very stylist. Lobby is close to the main road and reception staff do not understand and speak English, a disappointment for international traveller. It would be better if in-room coffee and tea could be made available Free-of-Charge. Relative to the high room rate, it is a small reward for the guests.

Room Tip: Is there swimming pool?

The service staff was very friendly, and exceptionally helpful in the restaurant, which served a very good breakfast. The butler service was ordinary struggling a bit with language. Had to make do with our 3rd choice of restaurant as they waiting to let us know that we were only on the waiting list until 5 pm, by which time our 2nd choice was also fully booked. Direction to the restaurant was only 80% correct. Again all the staff get 10 out of 10 for trying.

We have no problem paying high room prices as long as we get value. This was poor value, The rooms were big and spacious, but much of the hotel had that run-down/dated feeling, worn carpets and furniture upholstery: the overall design was exceptional, and lots of nice touches like orchids in the rooms and green walls in the restaurant and reception, which you appreciate in the middle of Sao Paulo. The Illy coffee in the room was very nice, but to charge R$ 8 per cup is too much at these room rates.

No traffic noise at all on 20th floor, but the compressor from the room fridge was quite noisy when running. Exceptional bed and bedding, magic! the same goes for the toiletries! The hot Japanese toilet seat was a nice touch! The WIFI worked very well.

The location is perfect close to very good restaurants and some shopping, and all in a safe environment.

Even though this is a pricey hotel and not necessarily mainstream, it provides excellent service and personal attention.
The position of the hotel is excellent.
The staff are well trained and speak a variety of languages.
Room sizes are in line with other 5 star boutique hotels.
I spent 3 weeks at this hotel and had a wonderful experience.
Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Check out the variety of nearby restaurants for food alternatives if you there for a long stay.
