So this place is cheaper than many of the local alternates (Sheraton across the street and Hyatt a block away) but that is because you get what you pay for, and in this case it is not much.
The rooms are of a decent size and the beds are comfy. The bathrooms are small and daggy but functional. The hotel is not so Grand as the name suggests despite the elegant facade (the official pictures of the exterior are deliberately photo-shopped which is always a bad sign). The communual breakfast area is much like the food it serves (bleak and cold) and one side of the property currently overlooks a building site where they are working late shifts to try and get things finished for the World Cup.
But worst of all the check in / check out experience is as bad as it gets. Usually when they provide chairs at reception it is to recognize honoured guests. Here it is because they know you will pass out if you have to stand through the whole process - they really should provide beds or a movie.
The wine is overpriced, you can literally buy the whole wine list at the adjoining shop for half the price, and they had the nerve to try and charge me for ice.
So if your company is trying to cut costs you will probably end up here. If you have a choice, go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the Hyatt.

Ben here for a few nights in April, and really liked it, but it has its flaws.
First of all the position is perfect for a business trip, it's central and only a few minutes away (depending on traffic) from the Rochaverà Corporate Towers.
The whole environment is very elegant and old style (wrought iron, brass, marble, parquet, etc.), always soft music playing (often with live piano player as during breakfast). Hotel staff is excellent and up to the task, always very kind and helpful.
I was only on the 3rd floor, yet it was a business room, with studio and bedroom in separate areas: all wooden furniture and parquet, two tv sets, nice bathroom (although not as spacious as many Hilton), comfortable bedroom. My room had also a very nice and wide balcony.
In-room dining was OK, nothing special, but prices were OK.

R$700 per night is too much in my opinion, but Brazil is getting more and more expensive these days (upcoming World Cup + Olympics).

Flaw #1: internet connection is to be paid separately (which might be OK), and it's crap. Reception in the room is poor and the speed is appalling.
Flaw #2: Bathroom could be bigger and the shower was not working perfectly.
Flaw #3: in-room dining was not the best experience ever... decent food, nothing more than that.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in a higher floor, the area around the hotel has a lot of traffic.

We stayed here late March and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast - definitely not American style with meat, eggs, potatoes etc, but tropical fruit (YUM!), tropical drinks including guava and coconut water, smoothies, coffees, and expressos, all kinds of Paõ, cheeses, and sweet rolls...seriously good stuff! Out of the 5 nights we stayed there, there were at least 2 nights with a dessert spread in the main lobby...again, delicious! Different from a Westin or Hyatt but in a good way. Rooms not as luxurious as the bigger, more expensive American chains, but nice and stately. The traffic and club across the street can get loud at night so be aware. Overall lovely boutique hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms by the Gaugin club are kinda loud.

I travel to Brazil 4 or 5 times a year on business. I love Sao Paulo. I have, however, become increasingly frustrated by the insanely high hotel rates in Brooklin. Enter Gran Estanplaza. The GE is a solid choice with excellent service, a great restaurant on site with included breakfast, and clean, spacious rooms. While the rooms are older and show signs of wear, they are well-kept and on par with the Sheraton WTC next door. The location cannot be beaten and the hotel, imo, is the clear winner in the neighbourhood. Unless, of course, you'd prefer to spend $600-$700/night for an okay Hilton next door!

My stay at the Gran Estanplaza just off of Avenue Bernini was a treat. Because of a last-minute trip, I was fortunate to be booked into a suite - both the bedroom and the living room were large and elegant. The suite included a separate hallway with closets leading into the bathroom.

The views from the hotel were stunning.

The staff was so very courteous. Every time I left the building, a bellman rushed to hold open a door for me. I departed the hotel early one morning for the the airport - even at 4:00 am, there was a bellman to hold open the door and load my luggage into a taxi.

The suite level included a private dining room with breakfast and drinks in the evening.

The exterior of the hotel exudes old-world architecture.

My only complaint was that the television could not be switched to accept the HDMI signal from my laptop, although there was a port to receive a HDMI cable.

As others have said the location is very good for the WTC office complex. Near several shopping centers. The hotel is nicely decorated and always spotless. The rooms are being redecorated and those are in excellent condition. The sound proofing is not great (balcony doors) and it could be quiet loud outside due to a club nearby. Breakfast and lunch buffets are top notch. Dinner is not that good. The rates here are so much better than the Sheraton across the street. I recommend.

Room Tip: Try to get a room not facing Rua Arizona

Since my Sao Paulo office is located at the WTC I always look for hotels within walking distance (getting a cab in the morning rush hour is insane). The Grand Estanplaza has great service, a superb breakfast service and very attentive staff.

That said, the whole feeling of the hotel is Old Fashion, not old, but old fashion. Wood panels everywhere, heavy/dark furniture in the rooms, brass, you get the idea. I like a lighter touch. Internet sucks, but this seems to be the norm with Brazilian hotels. Expect to be able to check emails, and nothing more.

Not a cheap option neither, but you can beat the location.
