“Excellent choice”
Reviewed 17 December 2012

Stayed in the Clarion Faria Lima in a business trip. The hotel is located in one of the nicest and most affluent areas of São Paulo and is just minutes away from very good restaurants and bars where you can enjoy a drink or just relax having a coffee. You can also find other opportunities for shopping near the hotel (in a 15 to 20 minutes radius). At arrival I was offered with a complementary choice of local newspapers for the morning reading (brought directly to the room) and a free drink in the hotel's bar. The Faria Lima offers free wifi connection, which worked pretty well both below and in the top floors. The room size was decent (the bed was large and confortable) and the bathroom was above average in terms of quality. In the afternoon the hotel staff offered a water boiler for tea and some sweats. My only observation concerns the noise isolation of the building, which perhaps could be improved with double sided glass in the windows. I stayed above the 10th floor and could still ear the noise below. But still this was very much bearable (I had no trouble to go asleep or otherwise be relaxed in the room) and you cannot forget that you are in one of the largest cities in the world. I would definitely recommend this hotel on its location and overall offers.

Its rare for me to give a hotel a 5 out of 5, the first being the Ritz Carlton in Dubai which was paid for by work and a lot more expensive. We came to Sao Paulo for the Formula 1 but also wanted somewhere in a popular area, this hotel had the perfect location. An affluent area, it felt very safe benefiting from two large shopping areas and an abundance of places to eat. The interlagos circuit was nearby only a short 20min ride at a cost of 50-60R but the frequent buses and trains would have been a good alternative. The room wasn't large but typical in size for my budget, it was very tastefully decorated and there were little personal touches which made it more of a boutique hotel rather than a chain. The bed was large and comfortable with different pillow options. We also had a large balcony on one of the higher floors which added to the space.
All staff were extremely polite, helpful and welcoming which makes such a difference, the reception staff gave us good directions and kindly printed off documents for me which required signing / scanning and emailing back to London for a personal business matter, I'm sure other hotels would not have been so accommodating.
The bathroom was a little small but was extremely clean with other personal touches to make it stand out, although there was a rain head shower, it could do with being more powerful but not really a problem.
Arriving to Sao Paulo Guaralhos airport, we took a taxi paying up front in the airport which came to 120R, on our return journey to the airport, we took a normal white taxi which was around 100R so not much in it...

I was made very welcome by everyone in the hotel. It's in a great area in Sao Paulo with nice restaurants and shops close. The food was good and the room was lovely. The spa is ok but the gym is nice. I'll return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up! With a view of the city

Excellent location for a business trip, just a short walk to a coffee shop/bar, restaurant. The staff were great, the room was very clean, also the room service menu options was good. Rooms are adequate, (bigger than Paris, smaller than Miami) but great showers and comf beds.
I will definitely stay here again

On a recent visit trip to Sao Paulo, I decided to stay at the Clarion Hotel Faria Lima due to problems at the hotels recommended by my company. I was VERY glad that I found a much better place to stay in the city. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. My room was very clean, actually spotless. The linens, and furniture were all very nice and modern. I will definitely be staying here again on future business trips. The front desk staff was extremely helpful with directions to my office, wireless, restaurants, etc. Over-all a first class hotel at a reasonable price in Sao Paulo.

Stayed here for a business trip. Excellent location for a lone traveller, just a short walk to a coffee shop/bar. Staff here were great, asking how your day had been - all basic stuff but made you feel at home for the duration of the stay. My only 'gripe' is that the business centre is a little lacking (no fax/photocopier) but the staff let me use theirs!
Rooms are adequate, great showers and comfy beds. I will definitely stay here again.

I travelled via Rio, Ille Grande and Paratay, all in Excellent rooms.
We were advised to share a room in Sao Paulo because of the expense during the Grand Prix week.
The room was sold as a superior twin, it was in reality a single with two single beds crammed into it.
The second bed was across the bathroom door about eighteen inches from the wall, that you had to walk around to access the bathroom.
this was by far the worst, most crampped room i have ever stayed in.
