“Great Area and decent priced hotel with great service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

If you have to stay in the Jardins and you dont want to pay too much but have a good hotel with good staff than this is the place. reception staff is very friendly and speak English and Spanish! (you dont find this everywhere in Brazil). Checkin and checkout took minutes! They have a computer with internet where you should pay for however i used it for 10 minutes and did not get charged). They can help you with a tour (mine was a private tour with English and Spanish speaking guide for a good price). Location is great! 3 blocks from Av Paulista. You will pass a supermarket (accross the street), Subway, McDonalds and 2 coffee shops where you can have a good breakfast!. The area felt very safe to walk also at night! As this is a expensive (and safe) side of the city dont expect real cheap restaurants in the neighberhood (pizza for around 50 real). Room was very modern and very clean! Bed was great to sleep on, Enough sockets to charge your laptop etc. Safe in the room and a big wonderful shower! Cable tv and mini bar.
I only found the free wi-fi to be a bit slow and it hanged at times (I dont know if that was because we used 3 devices at the same time) but if you are a business traveller you may want to try out the paid wifi). Gym is very small as is the pool... This is a gem in a in general very expensive city! Btw taxi trip from Congohas airport is appr. 30 reals to the hotel! I will definitely go back to this hotel!

This hotel is in a quiet upscale neighborhood, but walking distance to shops and restaurants. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The personal is very polite and efficient. The hotel has its own restaurant and it is opened for all three meals. The restaurant has an awesome breakfast buffet!
The only negative I have is that the gym is very small and there is barely any equipment.

In all, it is a good hotel to stay at for solo travelers, business, friends or family.

Unlike other hotels that I have stayed in Sao Paulo, this one actually seems geared towards the CUSTOMER and not the hotels convenience. Check in was swift and efficient, the wifi worked great, rooms were spacious and well appointed. It does def. need some minor touch ups domestically and the fitness room ...well let's not go there. The bathroom was great as well and excellent water pressure. The location is great, on a quiet little corner< however in the summer months it might be not as desirable as it it is a little hike to Paulista. The staff speaks english AND seems genuinely interested in the needs of the guest--smiles and attentiveness all around.. Also, they have thought ahead and have enough outlets for 2 people to charge phones, lap tops, etc. without having to unplug every light in the room. A good option for business and for leisure.

Great hotel and in a great area with restaurants, Irish Bar and plenty of local bars. Would come back again. The only bad side the pool is tiny but at least it does have one. I defiinately recommend that you ask the hotel to book you a table at Vento Haragano Chuuascaria. It is a traditional Brazilian BBQ where waiters will bring to you table the most amazing meat dishes. The restaurant will pick you up and drop you off again in the evening.

The hotel was perfectly suited for our needs as tourists -- it's in a nice neighborhood, is reasonably priced, and has a clean room with a comfortable bed. It's close to the metro with lots of shopping (albeit very high-end) and many restaurant choices. We felt totally comfortable walking around, even at night. I would definitely recommend it.

When the second half of a business trip was cancelled at short notice, I ended up living in the Mercure for a week with little opportunity to escape except for dinners and lunch etc. This could have been a recipe for cabin fever, but this great hotel looked after me well.

The room I had (and those of my colleagues) look just like the professional photos and were modern and clean and welcoming. Also, of the three hotels in Brazil we have stayed in on this trip, the Mercure is both the cheapest (about £80 per night) and the best.

The only criticisms I would have is that there are no face towels in the bathroom and no complimentary bottled water, and also very few English language channels on the TV, but for the price, hardly big issues.

The bed is large and comfortable.

Reception staff were friendly and spoke good English.

Overall, a good hotel.

The Mercure Jardins is good value and in a very safe neighbourhood with lots of good walk-out to upmarket shops and affordable restaurants. The hotel is a little tired around the edges, but the friendly staff go above and beyond to ensure guests are not inconvenienced by some of the maintenance problems which are quickly attended to (we had problems with plumbing, the safe and the lifts were also briefly out of action). The rooms are large, very comfortable, and quiet.

The breakfast is reasonable value, with a wide choice of food. There is also a very small swimming pool which is barely large enough to swim in (comparisons to a bath elsewhere on TA are surprisingly accurate!).

We had been warned that our personal safety might be an issue in Sao Paulo, but we felt very safe in this neighbourhood and really enjoyed our stay.

Tip: You can get the airport express (Ave Paulista hotel loop) bus from the International airport (GRU) to the Renaissance hotel just one block away from the Mercure for BRL$36.50. The hotel offers a fixed price taxi back to the airport at BRL$110 which is good value if there are 2 passengers.
