“Excellent choice for business travelling”
Reviewed 4 April 2009

I live in Uruguay, travel every 6 weeks to Sao Paulo and due to corporate agreements (special rate) I always stay at the Intercontinental, so I stayed in this hotel, more than 30 times in the last years. The overall balance is very positive, and mainly becuause the staff of the hotel knows me very well, I always receive special attention (i.e upgrade to a better room without additional charge, room with jacuzzi, free access to Intercontinental Club). The rooms are quite comfortable, the room service is OK and the internet connection (even a bit expensive compared with other hotels in the region and the world) is also good. The only problem I found in the room if you need to work a couple of hour with your notebook/computer is that the chair is really very umcomfortable, and after 2 or 3 hours I always have a pain in my back. I would recommend this hotel particularly for business travellers given its location, which is close to the financial district, and also close to a lot of excellent restaurants, most of them at walking distance. Considering Sao Paulo`s crazy traffic and the time which could take to drive from one place to another in this incredible but also very big city, if someone has to work close to this hotel, I strongly recommend it. I stayed a lot of times in other hotels near this one like the BlueTree Paulista, the Maksoud and other ones and definitely this the most convenient option.

This charming hotel is located right in the main business district of Sao Paulo and close enough to local landmarks (very close distance wise, but with the traffic it always is a bit of a gamble).
My room was clean, the bed one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in, and all extras in areas were impeccable. It's what you'd expect from this type of hotel and the price that you're paying.
The breakfast buffet was amazing, and on Sunday they offer a Sunday brunch which is outstanding! The restaurant (mainly for dinner) offers very good meals, mainly nouvelle cuisine, but nothing international. Then again, room service is affordable and delicious. Try the spaghetti bolognaise!
On the downside, I had reserved a Club room, and the club lunch is virtually inexistant, as it is incorporated in a corridor. Then again, the Internet access there is free and there's usually nobody else there. The breakfast buffet downstairs is included though if you book a club room.
The little extra services are very helpful too: roundtrip and airport transfers at reasonable prices, helpful staff, the lot.
One thing to be aware of is that every 4000 Reals they make you settle the hotel bill, which is a little annoying, especially when you use your hotel as your basis for Brazilian day travels.
Would recommend this hotel again, though the main reason for my staying there is the PriorityClub Rewards points. Very nice little hotel which is usually sold out 2-3 weeks in advance, so early booking helps.

I stayed at the Intercontinental SP in early August and I would like to offer the following, hopefully balanced review.

The Staff at the Intercontinental SP were outstanding. Everyone from the driver who sorted out all my transportation around SP to the cleaning and room service crew were all extremely kind and helpful. The bar staff and front desk staff were especially accomodating.

My room up on the 8th floor was a fairly dismal offering-VERY tired in general with dirty, malodorous carpet. Bathroom from the eighties-livable but not up to standard. Fitness center in a converted hotel room-nice cardio equipment, and one multi-use machine-kind of a half hearted effort. Food and drink pretty good overall and location in a nice part of town I asume.

Overall a terrific service experience diluted by shabby rooms in need of full refurbishment-

Intercontidental Hotel provides everything one should wait from a 5-star Hotel. Luxury, leisureness, high standards of service and a reception-desk every other hotel should envy.Sao Paolo is a city that you cannot spent the whole day on the street and Intercontintental surely made my 4 days in Brazil even better,Unique for someone, who wants to stay for few days in Sao Paolo in a safe area next to great restaurants.

Only stayed here for one night and for work, but it was great. Much needed bed had a duvet which was fantastic.

Bathroom was a little dated but very clean and the jacuzzi bath was great.

Didn't have long to try out the hotel, but the room service was excellent.

It's easy to say all large business hotels are the same these days and to some extent that's true, but small examples of good service make all the difference in my opinion. I stayed at the Intercontinental in Sao Paulo for two nights recently and was very impressed by the service.

After check-out I had a few hours to kill before my flight. The reception staff let me have complimentary wireless internet access while I waited in the lobby and this let me use the time to get a lot of work done (the weather outside was terrible so there was no incentive to do any sight-seeing!). They also let me use the business center internet access free of charge earlier in te stay when I couldn't get a connection in my room. Such things were typical of the courteous service I received throughout my stay. Good service always makes a big difference!

I go to Sao Paulo on business twice a year. I have stayed at all the major hotels in Sao Paulo - The Renaissance, The Marriott near the airport, The old Sheraton which is now I believe is a Gran Melia owned property. I keep going back to the Intercontinental. I have always loved walking into the lobby - it is like a breath of fresh air compared to the city of Sao Paulo. The staff are great, the food wonderful and the rooms emaculate. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.
