Aquarios Praia Hotel

As I was on holiday I had not much to stress about so most of the things that I would usually pick up on were not such a major issue and being in Hotel Management my attention to detail is probably a bit high especially for Brazil. First off I would like to Thanks Aquarios for even accommodating me after the previous hotel had fallen through last minute. I booked a day before arriving and made a note to be in the new block and they managed to do so on the 4th floor, even better.
Im guessing they don't see as much rain as I had bought with me because every time it rained the hallways would have puddles of water everywhere (due to windows being open/not fully sealed).
As others have said rooms get 'renovated' with new tv's and paint but the structural things are forgotten but better than nothing. The rooms are of a good standard (for Brazil)
There were not many staff that spoke english but not an issue for myself but maybe for others especially with world cup and olympics coming tourists are there to travel and they are not going to learn another language just to visit one city so I would suggest improving the staff that already know a bit.

The Breakfast Is really great, Buffet with made to order tapioca and a nice selection of items, not to mention the sweet selection for after, I though this was great as in New Zealand we don't typically eat sweet things in the morning :)

Over all, Aquarios is a great option for your stay in Aracaju at a great price that is reflected on what you receive, I would choose to stay here again. *note it is a tad far without a car or use of taxis to shopping malls ect*

Room Tip: ask for the new block and 4th floor

As many hotels in Brazil, the Aquarios Hotel presents a great staff, very helpful and that offers great service but an average structure. Although I stayed in the new building, facing the main avenue and the sea, and the room was somewhat renovated there are still some problems to mention, The main one was the air conditioning, the system does not work properly, and I managed to get it to cool the room after pressing every button in the remote control. However, for cooler temperature, the ac showed 25 celsius, and if you put in the 16 celsius you only get hotter. So, this is an issue of basic maintenance that must be taken care of. Another basic maintenance issue refers to the bathroom, water leaks from the shower to the floor and water tends to take a while to go down the drain either in the sink and toilet. This is a common problem in Brazil, since hotels tend to renovate mainly its image, with new led tvs, painting, but do not focus on structural issues. Also, there is a problem of noise coming from the street if you face the main avenue. The view is pleasant, but the music is annoying if you want to get some sleep. Breakfast is good, with tapioca made to order, but it is unfortunate not to have a toaster or sandwich maker available to guests to heat the bread, There is no beach upfront, which is a characteristic of Aracaju city, in which the main beaches are located far from the hotels area, so you have to take a bus or a taxi to go to the beach. However, there are lots of places to eat nearby the hotel and you can take walks in the area, including the Oceanario nad the beach, that is not for kying down and taking baths, just to look. The main malls are also close to the hotel, as Riomar and Arcos Jardins, which are big and have supermarkets in it. In this sense, do not expect to find any facilities such as supermarkets or drugstores nearby the hotel area, they are far located so you tend to depend on the hotel for water, other goods and deliveries. In the malls you can find all of this, but at no walking distance, It is a good place, but a city for people who have car, or tend to take the bus or taxis to reach the main attractions,

Good hotel in Aracaju, in front of the main area of movement by night, tents and bars. Very clean and good service. Sometimes what is asked in the room, towels, pillows, etc take a long time to arrive.
Meeting rooms for courses and events are good and good acclimatization. Nice swimming pool and recreation area.
Good restaurant, breakfast, lunch and dinner with lots of typical food. Natural juices of local fruits. Very good.

Was very impressed by the cordiality of the staff, besides the poor room service. Nice breakfast with local goods and some basics, such as scrambled eggs, bread and cereals. It's very neat and comfortable if you get to stay at the new building. A little expensive though. It's 10 minutes close to the nices beaches of Aruana and Sarney, and in front of the cities really beautiful coast with great structure. I'd come back.

Aracaju is a hot and sweaty tropical city with daytime temperatures of over 30 degrees celsius and high humidity. Good news - my room in the Aquarios Praia Hotel has an air conditioner. Bad news - it doesn't work properly and clearly needs regassing. Rather than cooling me, it is making a right racket but no cold air is coming out only a trickle of warm air. It is cooler on the balcony. Good news - there's a bathroom with towels and a shower in the room. Bad news - there's no soap or shampoo. Oh dear. Never before has a two night stay felt longer.
