“Brilliant Hotel”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

We have just come back after 2 weeks at the Hotel Mirage in Nessebar. We could not fault this hotel at all, when we arrived the porter came out to meet us and take our cases in, then took us in a beautiful lift to our room which was just perfect for the 2 of us with a beautiful sea view great to wake up to every morning. The lifts take you to every floor including the beach . Breakfast was the usual hot and cold choices and there was lots of it, the dishes were replenished as soon as they were empty. There is a lovely reception area where you can use the free wi-fi in the shade or you can sit on the terrace and have a coffee or a drink and use the wi-fi also. There is a pool that is not the largest but perfect to just cool off and there is a small shop type area where you can have a coffee or ice cream or a beer if you are wet. The bar in the hotel is open until 4am every day I was surprised at the prices, we paid more for a drink on one of the beach front bars than the hotel charged and we took our last drink up to the room in the evening so we could sit on the balcony and enjoy the veiws. We looked out at Old Nessebar Town and to see the lights in the evening was beautiful. The staff were very nice and we did not have a problem being understood even with our Scottish accent. The only thing we did notice was there were very few english speaking guests AND if you want to use the hotel beach you have to hire the beds and parasols which worked out at about £15 a day for 2 beds and a parasol, you can not just take your towel down and lie there you must walk along to the free beach. We did not eat in the hotel apart from breakfast so can not comment on the food. There were lots of places very close to the hotel and after spending the whole day by the pool it was nice to go out and about but we would go back again without any hesitation

Room Tip: We were on the first floor and had a great view so it could only get better from the other floors

Returned a couple of weeks ago and have only just find time to write this review. This was our first time in Bulgaria, so were not too sure what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised, we has a really great time. The Mirage is lovely, spacious rooms with a fantastic view over the sea. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are excellent considering they are catering for many different nationalities. Only gripe concerns the pool area. Sunbeds seem to be permanently reserved by the people in the apartments especially to the left of the pool which catches the last of the sun. Our solution to this was to grab a couple of empty ones and move them. It didn't seem to go down too well!!!
Also the sunbeds on the beach are very hard, and also expensive, we were told about this before we went so took a couple of cheap camping mats from ASDA with us. These were also useful on the sandy area of the beach which is free.
We found some excellent places to eat in New Nessebar. Our favourite was Jambo's just off the main street. Massive platefuls and really good value. Our cheapest meal for 2 with 2 large beers came to just over £8. Prices in Old Nessebar are much higher, although it is a lovely town to visit. Beware the money exchange office just as you enter the old town, it looks official but it is a scam. The rate he shows outside is not what you get. He has another board inside. We fell for this once, but after that always changed our money at Crown bureaux which are recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and have already recommended the Mirage to our friends.

Room Tip: We went with Balkan Holidays and all their rooms face the sea.

Hotel excellent, marvelous position staff helpful, excellent breakfast, cannot say a bad thing about it. We had a early departure and when we checked out were given sandwiches ,fruit and a bottle of water a pleasant surprise. The only "niggle" was the cost of the sunbeds on the beach 24 lev for 2 beds and a parasol.Would return here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have excellent views.

We were 3 ppl living in room 308 and 311, for 2 weeks. Both rooms were big, With good beds and nice bathrooms.

The placement is good, right on the beach, and close to restaurants, and old Nessebar.

I think the food in the restaurant was good, except the bacon which is local style and not Nordic (but perhaps it is just about difference in taste). Sofia is a lady who works there, and she did a fantastic job. Best service ever from her, while most of the other staff I think were below average. Only 3 persons could speak English on the hotel while we were there.
Room 308 had great view of the Beach, but was a little noisy until about 2 am. While 311 had sideview, but were quiet. Positive things to say about the rooms, except bad cleaning!

The terrace was never cleaned, and had a couple of spiderwebs after the last customers. The walls were not clean, and the cleaning staff which came every day did a stress job, and missed a lot. They also disliked to refill toilet paper, and kept us waiting (: The cleaning girl also reported that we took 4 waters, a Coke, and Vodka (which none of us drink). When we only took 2 waters. She reported wrong on both rooms- not one single mistake! What we think was the manager didnt believe us at all, directly accusing a 76 year old lady from one of the rooms for lying!
That is totally unacceptable- and terrible!

Wont return cause of the bad checkout experience, and lack of cleaning. But most were good except this part.

Just returned from a weeks stay at hotel mirage. The view from the balcony was perfect and you could see parts of old Nessebar town. Access to the beach was from the lift and if you don't mind a couple minute walk there is a free beach you can use to your right. Other wise there are sun beds on the abeach outside the hotel for around 10lv per day. There are sun beds around the pool but these are limited and are shared with the apartments next door but I had no difficulty getting a sun bed each day. The hotel is perfectly position for the new and old town. There is a lovely walk along the coast to the old town. The new town is only minutes walk away. The stafff are friendly and helpful. Free WiFi in the lobby area. Would recommend hotel Mirage to friends and family :)

good quality hotel near the new town and in easy walking distance of the old town. breakfast was better than expected with good choice and wide selection of dishes. Didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast but drinks and coffees were served promptly. The room was modern and well serviced except towels were only changed every three days...not enough. Happy to go back there.

Room Tip: rooms at the seaside get shade very early in the day
