“really relaxing holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

21st to 28th sept, room was great, really spacious, bathroom excellent with both bath and walk in shower. towels changed daily, rooms cleaned daily, cleanliness was second to none all over the hotel and grounds, staff work really hard and all we met were very friendly, always a smile and an acknowledgement. breakfast was excellent, the choice of food for lunch and dinner was really good the only downside was that some of the dishes were lukewarm/cold which was a shame as had they been hot then all meals would have been excellent . we did not have much entertainment of an evening but think this was due to it being so close to the end of the season, however this did not detract from the good time we had. we met some lovely people and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would def return.

great hotel, clean tidy, very friendly staff, always willing to help.late booking with a quick change from sunny beach(thank god) rooms big, clean, and fully equipped, food was the only downer, wasnt bad!great choice, looked after properly not just left out, brilliant choice of desserts, but the mains, just luke warm or cold, and yes they have a microwave, but its never the same,British its not but we do like food hot,its the way the Bulgarians eat it, just strange to us,put that aside a fantastic choice, and something to suit all pallettes,as its last few days of there season rather quiet, but thats the way we like it,weather wasnt bad either, got a good bit of a tan, ready for the winter,a very big thanks to you all.

Room Tip: we went for a quiet room, top floor facing the road, hardly heard a thing

Dear Julian h,

Thank you for your choice and for having taken the time to review our hotel.
It is such a pleasure to read your positive impression about your room, its equipment, the great choice of food, especially desserts, thank you!
We appreciate also your comment about the temperature of the hot dishes - during the low season we have enough time to find a solution and addapt to the needs of our guests, who prefer hot dishes really hot.

I am very pleased that you are satisfied with the staff, allways ready to help; I will inform them about your positive impression.

In the end, I am happy, that you have got a good bit of a tan and are ready for the winter, as it is the aim of our job!
Big thanks to you back!.

Hoping to see you in Sol Nessebar Palace again soon,

Best wishes,

We've just returned from our first holiday to Bulgaria & overall enjoyed the experience. The Sol Nessebar Palace is a clean & fairly well kept hotel with a great choice of food, however its only a 4 star by British standards at the most. The staff (not all but sadly a majority) were a real disappointment. I experienced very rude & abrupt behaviour on a number of occasions, & when I reported one instance to reception, it was met with a rolling of the eyes & shrugging shoulders as I was presented with a comments book dug from the depths of a drawer behind the desk. I may not speak Bulgarian but those actions translate pretty well, & needless to say we didn't set foot in that particular bar again! I must add however that the cleaners were lovely & (despite the towels wreaking of cigarettes on a few occasions) it was never too much trouble for them to acknowledge us with a simple hello every morning. Language barriers aside, a smile goes a mile.

Dear LJH027,

Thank you for your visit of Sol Nessebar Palace, as well as for the time spent on reviewing us in TripAdvisor.
I am glad that you have "overall enjoyed" your holiday in our hotel and that the facilities and the food were to your satisfaction.
On the other hand, I am sad, that a part of our staff disappointed you. Please accept our sicere appologies - the management discussed your comments on our quality meeting. The front office manager is taking the necessary steps to avoid it to happen again.
I totally agree with you - a smile goes a mile and I hope that your positive impressions about the cleaning staff, added to your satisfaction from the room, the facilities and the good food will bring you back to Sol Nessebar Palace again, giving us the chance to serve you to your fully satisfaction.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

A quick check in, rooms ready when we arrived & then a nice surprise when we found that our party had been allocated adjoining rooms. A positive start to our holiday & the entire week carried on in that vein.
We had big bright rooms, clean & comfortable with carpeted floors. Two beds pulled together to make a huge bed plus a couch bed, good bed linen & great pillows. Large wardrobe, luggage rack, minibar, workstation/dresser, tv with several English speaking channels, great air con & a safe costing 5 levs per day. We had loads of natural light owing to the large window/balcony door. No issues whatsoever with noise from inside or outside of the hotel & sleep quality for all of us was good. Housekeeping staff visited the room everyday.
Our balcony was a nice size with a table & 2 chairs, clothes airer & with good sea views.
The bathroom was, like the bedroom, very spacious, clean & bright with tiled walls & floor. With ceiling extractor fan, telescopic makeup/shaving mirror, fixed hairdryer, liquid soap & liquid body/hair wash in dispensers, plenty of towels which were changed daily, bath, detachable shower head on rail & hose with good pressure & always, plenty of hot water & a bath/shower screen. The shower screen wasn’t long enough which lead to a wet floor after every shower but the floor gully installed for this drained any water away very quickly. In both rooms we had to remove the pop up plugs from the bath as they drastically slowed the shower water from escaping & lead to the bath filling up whilst showering.
Food was good for all meals - breakfast, lunch & dinner. Breakfast consisted of cereals, breads, toast, eggs, omelettes, sausages, bacon, croissants, pastries, sweets, cheeses, cold meats, salamis, salads, fresh fruit, tea/coffee, fruit juices etc. Lunch & dinner had plenty of variety with usually a choice of 3 soups, fish, pork, veal, chicken, salads, pizza, pasta, potatoes, veg, desserts etc. Beer, wine & soft drinks were available. I noticed one drink station in the restaurant with drinks suitable for diabetics. The restaurant was busy during all meals & we ate at different times & didn’t really notice any particular time to be busier or quieter than another. Queues at times could be quite long & less than 5 minutes later there could be no queues whatsoever. I didn’t notice any significant amount of pushing or queue jumping during the entire week. We ate lunch & dinner outside everyday & never had a problem in getting tables. A word of warning though, there was an awful lot of wasps around to harass anybody eating & drinking outside. Ice cream & snacks of pizza, kebabs, etc were available from the pool bar throughout the day.
The animation team were excellent, never overly persistent or “in your face” & with plenty of activities such as water polo, water gymnastics, bouilles, archery, dance classes etc . The night time shows that they performed in the outdoor arena were excellent with the Broadway show & the Elvis impersonator being particularly good. The kids club & teenage club were also good with a good variety of activities. There are a few small playgrounds for the younger children. There are 2 inflatable water walking balls for the kids, costing 10 levs for approx 10 minutes, in the main pool in the evenings & dodgem boats in the slide pool costing 3 levs per boat not per child. There are also 2 or 3 pay to use bouncy castles adjacent to the slide pool.
The pool area is spotless & very well maintained with a very large pool. There are plenty of sunbeds & a number of parasols & we never had a problem in getting the number of sunbeds that we required on any given day (3 to 5 beds). People with mobility problems may have difficulties getting to the pool area as, through the animation bar or indoor pool are the only way out without using a number of steps. There is a childrens’ pool with 1 large & 2 small slides. There is also a good sized indoor pool for the rainy days or days when you just want to get out of the hot sun. The hotel grounds run right down to the beach. If you don’t bring towels with you, the hotel will provide pool towels for a 20 Lev returnable deposit. There is a lifeguard on duty at the main pool but not at the slide pool.
There are 3 bars. The lobby bar from where you can take drink to your room or have a drink in the lobby area or the outside terrace. The pool bar where all drinks are served in plastic glasses & the animation bar which has 2 pool tables, table football & (free) table tennis inside & has 1 pool table & air hockey table outside. The all inclusive drinks package starts at 10.00 & ends at 23.00.
There are 3 lifts from the lobby & the wait for them usually took several minutes & it wasn’t unusual for them to stop at a number of floors before getting to whatever floor we were going to. There is an internet point with 6 pay to use terminals. Free wifi was available in our room & the lobby & the pass code was changed every 2 days.
Meal times were, breakfast 0730 to 1000, lunch 1200 to 1430 & dinner, 1800 to 2100. The policy of no swimwear in the restaurant was rigidly enforced.
There were many nationalities in the hotel with Russians being by far the most numerous. The hotel has an ironing room with 1 iron & board. None of our party experienced any problems with mosquitos, no bites for any of us. Ravda is within walking distance of the hotel but it’s hardly worth the effort. We were lucky to find a very good taxi driver & rather than use buses (bus stop close to hotel) which would have been a cheaper option, we decided to use him rather than keep the children waiting around in the strong sunshine. Nessebar old town cost us 10 Levs each way, Sunny Beach 20 Levs each way. We were surprised to see that pets were welcome at the hotel, seeing 2 small dogs with their owners in the hotel. One of them was in a room, only 2 doors down the corridor from ours, we couldn’t hear it from our room but could most definitely hear it from the corridor.
We checked out early morning & coffee/tea, apples & buns were available from the lobby bar.
Finally, my only gripe. I booked the 2 day/overnight excursion to Istanbul from the hotel. I asked them if it would be an English language trip & after asking the tour operators, the response was that it would be so. To say I was annoyed to find that I was the only native English speaker, with 2 Dutch ladies that could speak English, on the tour would be an understatement. The rest were from Russia & Ukraine & the commentary on the trip was virtually all aimed at them. I complained on my return to the hotel & asked for the name of the tour operator. Be careful if you plan to book this excursion from the hotel or directly from the organisers, Sanimat, as it was a good tour but would have been a whole lot better if it had been with full English commentary, as requested when booking. The hotel btw, did supply a lunch pack due to the early morning pick up from the hotel for the excursion.
This didn't take away anything from the enjoyment of the week that we spent in The Sol Nessebar Palace & we'd return there without hesitation.

we stayed there for 7 nights in late august 2013. the weather was ok and the stay excellent. they have a big parking with a guard. you must pay the parking 10 leva/day. the wi-fi works very good in rooms and at the pools. lots of playing options for kids. the food was excellent and the drinks ok. the palace is way better than bay or mare and is not very expensive. the entertainment team was ok and always had a good show in the evenings.

Room Tip: the sea view is a must

This hotel is fab!!
The staff are really friendly, food great, entertainment fab too!!
The rooms are so spacious and spotless.
I really havent got a bad word to say.....we could even go to the pool at mid day and not have to worry about finding a sun lounger and our holiday was mid August! There were no sunbeds reserved with towels! Always a good sign:-)
