This hotel is spacious in a good location with a good pool and other facilities but the staff do not know the meaning of the word "service".

The restaurant in particular is a disaster zone and should be avoided at all costs. At breakfast there was no fruit juice (a first for us) - just some revolting pink liquid that could be self-served hot or cold. There was no cereal apart from a cheap alternative to Coco-Pops but dinner was particularly memorable for all the wrong reasons.

It was to be a buffet and we were told to arrive between 6.00 and 8.00pm. We arrived around 7.00 to a mausoleum-like unlit restaurant with bare tables covered with grubby cloths. There was a buffet laid out on one side of the room. No-one was around and we waited for attention and when none came we went to reception who said that they would send someone.

A waitress came and she told us to help ourselves from the buffet. She had no wine or drinks list and did not know any prices.
"Help yourself" meant just that, cutlery, cruet, napkin, etc. had all to be found by us.

The buffet contained some tepid soup and a miserable looking salad. The main course was fish with the consistency of a flip-flop sandal, some pieces of beef in a congealed sauce or some hard over-cooked chicken. The vegetables were mushy, luke- warm and sitting in water.

At 7.40 we were told that we had to get everything else we needed from the buffet (including dessert and coffee) as it was closing in five minutes. By 8.00pm the buffet had been removed and the waitress had gone.

By applying some basic management, this hotel could be good for B&B but tour operators should be ashamed of themselves for promoting it on a half board basis. There are many welcoming atmospheric, inexpensive restaurants in the old town.

This hotel has to learn how to treat guests properly.

On first view the hotel looked fantastic. Lovely modern room and view overlooking the sea. A huge list of must nots, including consuming any of your own food and drink in the room. A charge of 6 lev a day to use the room safe. There was a whiff of sewage in the corridor.

The staff at the hotel were apallingly rude and food was awful. One evening, although the meal was served from 6-8 we were told to get out at 7.30 as they were expecting a large party. We had wanted to use internet access, but it was shut throughout our stay.

The coffee machine broke down in the restuarant, and despite requests was not dispensing properly by the end of our stay.

With some staff training and less of a dicatorial approach, this could be a good hotel, but not yet.

The Hotel Vigo in Nessebar is indeed a beautiful hotel. The rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean. Towels and bed linen where changed every day during our stay. Reception staff always polite and very helpful. There was everything in our room that we needed, even down to a shoe horn and shoe cleaning material. TV with a few english speaking chanels. However the restaurant was a very different matter. The food served was always stone cold instead of being hot, very limited choice, and if you complained, the waiter or waitress would shrug and walk away. The food was inedible. We stayed half board and after the first two nights we ate out every night. I would not advise anyone to eat in this restaurant, which is a great shame as the hotel is so nice. I could recommend a very good restaurant, which opened during our stay. KVMBARE, situated at the beginning of the causeway which leads to the old town, the food is absolutely delicious, happy waiters and nothing too much trouble, what a contrast.
