“Amazing beach, bad breakfast”
Reviewed 1 August 2010

I have just come back from my vaccation in Nessebar and Hotel Vigo. I was traveling with two friends and we stayed in one bedroom. One of us had to sleep on the bed-couch which appared to be hard and not comfortable. The room was poorly cleaned and towls changed only a few times. The breakfast was not good, too gresy and watery. Now to the good things: The hotel is close to the beach and the water is clean and warm. You can pay 7 to 10 leva for a parasoll and chair.
The hotels pools, the balcony, they view and the spa center was outstanding. If I would recommend one thing, check out the spa and the massages. The staff are not good at English but the can their profession. I took aromatherapy/relaxin and french manakyr and it was so cheap.

I would recommend the hotel for persons(group of friends) that like to stay in a nice hotel, but to a low a cost and poor breafast

We booked our holiday with Hays Travel and chose an 'exclusive' Apartment Room with King size bed ( 1 of 8) within the Hotel When we arrived at 02.30 hours we were given the keys an taken over to a seperate Block (Panama Beach) and shown a twin self catering Apt with building materials stacked up inside it. We refused to accept the Room the Hotels attitude was its an apartment whats your problem after a few phone calls we stayed in a room in the Hotel and a 09.30 appointment to see the Manager
The morning meeting with the manager went thus. Us 'the room you gave us is not what we booked and paid for' Manager 'whats wrong with it its an apartment isnt it?' after ten minutes of the same conversation she dismissed us like a pair of kids and told us to come back at 14.00. We contacted Hays Travel and told them we wanted to move when we went back to the manager at 14.00 we were eventually given the right room.
the room was as shown on the web i.e nice view, nice bed, fridge, sink, no kettle or cups/hospitality tray as you may expect in a 4 star hotel shower and w.c. plus seperate w.c. which both stank of the internal waste risers if you didnt leave the extractor fans on. We tried to sort out a kettle e.t.c. to no avail totally lost in translation with the reception who barely spoke English. we thought it cant get worse lets just be true Brits and make the most of it. Then came breakfast or the morning melee Buffet style aimed at the East European palate Toast, Salad, Cereal, Pastries, Yogurt, warmed up hot dogs 4 different types, I think they were spoiling us rubber eggs and omlettes some sort of boiled bacon stewed tomatoes scrambled egg that was awful all seved on the banmarie that was never turned on if you didnt get it when they fetched it out it was left to go cold and not replenished until it was all gone, Three mornings we had the pleasure of Spagetti or mixed veg from the night before. the crockery was mostly chipped or cracked sometimes both, not very 4 star at all.
With just 3 more nights to go before we got out the finishing touch from the Hotel management was to ambush the wife when we got back mid afternoon and couldnt get into our Room and ask/tell her our room was booked by a newly married couple so will we vacate it now and move into a self catering Block to compensate us we could have free Evening meals ffor the rest of our stay. I think you can guess the rest but no there is a little more to accompany your evening meal you didnt get coffee or tea/bread rolls, butter but some nice dried bread and water. This Holiday was my Wifes Birthday treat to me for my 50th Birthday I am glad I love her so mutch otherwise divorce proceedings would have been started by me as soon as we got back home.

We stayed in Hotel Vigo from 24th - 31st May. The hotel was very quiet and we pretty much had the place to ourselves, apart from some conference guests who only stayed a couple of nights. There was no noise from adjoining rooms or from local clubs/bars.

Of course there isn't going to be a full service out of season, like many of the other reviews are complaining about -- how on earth could it be economical to staff both of the hotel's bars all day/night when there are only a handful of guests staying?! The minibar was not stocked, but this is only a problem if you particularly enjoy paying 4 lev for a beer you could get in a local bar for half the price or in a local shop for a quarter of it!

The room was modern, clean and comfortable. Sheets and towels were changed daily. The air conditioning was very effective and certainly necessary even in late May.

There is free WiFi in the hotel lobby for guests.

All of the pools were filled and appeared to be well looked after; water quality was being checked while we were there. We did not use the gym or spa centre.

Breakfast is a slightly odd experience. If the hotel is extremely quiet you are simply served a selection of breakfast items, e.g. egg, sausages, ham, cheeses, fruit. If it's a bit busier there is a buffet selection of similar things. I felt the food was edible but my partner felt it was greasy and opted for cereals instead. We stayed B&B only so I can't comment on dinner, but there are many good and cheap restaurants in New and Old Nessebar to choose from.

The hotel is ideally located near New Nessebar and is a 5-10 minute walk to the Old Town's bars, shops and restaurants. We mostly ate out in the Old Town, but the New Town is quite a bit cheaper. Average prices were perhaps 40-60 lev in the Old Town and 20-40 in the New Town, for the two of us including wine.

We stayed in this hotel for a week starting 10th may. The hotel itself does look impressive but do not be fooled by its star rating. Although the rooms were presented well, noise from the adjoining rooms and onsite club disrupted sleep. There were no sun beds around the pool; when asked if they could be put out at the reception, the staff seemed to not want to help. The swim up bar and internal bars were not open and the mini bar was not stocked up. The steam room and sauna were not included in the hotel guest package and one of the outside pools was not filled with water. Although the gym was said to be available to hostel guests it was under construction and unusable. However the hotel was a 5 minute walk to the beech and 15 minutes to Nessebar old town -out side of season there is not much to do-this hotel lacks 4 star quality.

breakfast was supposed to be included in the price
the restaurant was closed and no breakfast or anything else was available at the hotel
the bar was also not open and the minbar in the room was empty
we could not even get a cup of coffee as there were no coffee making facilities in the room
the room was not cleaned and towels were not changed
do not go there at this time of year
the hotel maintains it is open but all facilities are closed
on the up side we did find a couple of cafes and restaurants open in the old town and also were able to get supplies from a small supermarket
we put our supplies in the minibar and went "self catering"
we also found the museum was open and it was an interesting place with antiquities from archeological finds.
the staff we encountered (not many!) were friendly and smiley but they could not actually do anything for us.
a very odd place.

Good hotel, but not very close to the beach, but close to almost everything else. (It take only a few minutes to go to the beach) The nearest beach is very good indeed. Recomended!
