The Inthar Heritage House is a brilliant philanthropist creation.
The Burmese cats at the cattery are all well looked after with healthy coats and plenty of cuddles. We were allowed in to mingle with them which was a lovely experience.
Following that we went upstairs to the restaurant and ate the food. The butterfish and pork curries we got were both exceptional. Right up there with the best food I had in Burma along with the Pork Mango curry from Green Chilli in Nyaung Shwe.
The philanthropist has setup an art gallery to help local aspiring artists, and there are also schooling areas you can look around.
There are free books you can read at the restaurant along with the owner's story of how he created the Heritage House and sought about sourcing all the various products to make a traditional Inthar product.
I strongly recommend making this a mandatory visit on your Inle Lake tour. You won't regret it. Spend some money there and support a good cause, as there are plenty of positive community initiatives being led from this premises.
