I have to bear in mind when writing this review that I have only ever stayed in 2 hotels in Myanmar, standards are not the same as you might expect in other more developed countries. People complain about electricity, but the this town does not have proper electric and they have to run generators which they only do at certain times of day.. they have candles in the rooms as well as electric lights, when there is no power you use candles. The lack of infrastructure is part of the charm. Staff very good. Price is OK.

We realised ahead of time that this hotel would not be the highlight of our trip, but overall it was worse than expected - very run down and lacking in any sort of charm or pro-active customer service. Had to ask for hot water to be turned on and for toilet tissue and mosquito coil to be provided. Aircon available occasionally but running of the generator was minimal and appeared to be at the whim of the management. Condiments at breakfast very grubby - for example branded jam pot refilled each morning with inferior product and tomato ketchup bottle fizzed and gave off white smoke on opening! Unlike other establishments in Myanmar the Private Hotel did not appear to have expended any effort in overcoming the challenges of operating in an expanding tourist market.

Friendly staff but very run down from a low starting point. Had to ask before the electricity was turned on. Had to ask before the hot water worked (it was hot). Airc-onditionong did work but again only when the owner decided to turn it on. Just feels very run down and not particularly clean. Mosquitoes in evidence - the only place in Myanmar that we actually erected our mosquito nets. Breakfast was basic but sufficient. Did not ascertain the cost of a room as we booked via Myanmar Delight and were charged $45 which was clearly a rip off!! Next door there is the Golden Star Hotel which is only one year old and $35 for a double room with en suite.

Room Tip: There are several other guest houses and hotels in the town. Some only just opening now so you will...

Located out of town can be unonvenient on one hand, - on the other hand you might like to pull up your feet and enjoy the peace and quiet at the terracce outside your cabin after a day of trekking to hilltribe villages.
Standard is basic, especailly as regards the bathroom. Had hot water though. Beds a bit hard. Anyway decent sleep quality, seen to be no nearby pagodas entertaining you with massing and singing throughout the night
Avoid their restaurant, there are a couple of Chines restaurant near by which are better options. Breakfast however surprisingly good!

They call themselves a resort but it's rather a military camp. We knew what we were goinig to regarding the reviews on tripadvisor and we actually booked the pricess hotel but the travel agency managed to trick us into this hotel. The rooms are very basic but the worst are the bathrooms which are smelly and not so clean. The only positive thing we could say is that you can take a shower when sitting on the toilet hahaha. At breakfast you can order eggs and you get some toast with jelly. From the day you arrive you count the hours untill you can leave. Very unpleasant experience!!!

We stayed at the Private Resort Hotel for three nights in January. The negatives of this hotel were far outweighed by the positives of spending time in Kyaing Tong and the surrounding area.
We were warned that the accommodation was somewhat basic so we were actually quite relieved that it was slightly better than our expectations. Our room, albeit sparse with dodgy electrics and rickety furniture was very clean. The nylon sheets and single blanket didn't keep the chill out out at night so we tended to sleep in our clothes to keep warm. Also protected us from the nylon sheets. We didn't have any issues with getting hot water at any time of the day. Power was turned on around 6pm and stayed until about 8am. The staff (including the owner) were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast as previously stated consisted of eggs and 'toast'. Packed lunches consisted of egg sandwiches. Not wonderful. What really let this hotel down was the location on a busy airport road on the outskirts of town. Too far to walk into the center for an evening and the choice of restaurants nearby was extremely limited (no option to eat at the Private Hotel). There is considerable traffic noise at night and in the early morning. Any longer than three nights and we would have been very miserable. As it was the trekking activities during the day made up for the discomfort.

Room Tip: We didn't see any good rooms. However I would ask for one as far away as possible from the main...

This hotel is so so HORRIBLE...every one staying there was complaining and comparing similar notes .The rooms and bathroom were not clean, the beds are extremely uncomfortable full of bumps and the sheets were too small for the bed. Good thing we had our own. The ''shower'' was a trickle of water, nothing working properly . Best to bring your own breakfast. TV , small fridge(not that you really need one) either were broken or plugs unusable. Felt sorry for the employees, fearful of the owner. Even the guides dislike staying there. NOT RECOMMENDED

We visited another Hotel the Golden Star Hotel next door , less expensive and brand new, spacious rooms , clean and comfortable beds.

Room Tip: Go to the Golden Star Hotel next door.
