“Great spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

Four Sisters Inn is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main road in Nyaung Shwe, which I really liked. It was in a quieter part of town and the walk was fine, even at night or in the pouring rain. We went during low season, but found the Inn very hospitable and the family that owns/runs it was very nice. Satisfactory breakfast and were helpful but not too pushy in arranging tours/bus tickets out of Inlay Lake to Yangon/Mandalay. For the $10 US a night we paid, it was very agreeable. Would stay again!

Room Tip: The corner rooms seem better/more quiet

Stayed at Four sisters in May 2013. We arrived in the town at about 3.30am by bus and expectantly nothing was open- we knocked on their gate and the neighbours awoke. They were so lovely, we were very apologetic as it was early and they had been rudely awaken by us, they were extremely hospitable and patient. They called the Four Sisters owner in Burmese. She was very welcoming and gave us a room and showed us where everything, we were told that the paperwork could be sorted out in the morning. We had hot and cold showers which was rare in Myanmar. The garden is lovely and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazingly helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

It's a little difficult to describe an honnest review about the Four Sisters. On one hand it's a nice building with a garden. The moderate rooms are clean, but have some atmosphere. On the other hand the service changes continuously. On little things they responded quickly but resolving power and water failures they anticipated very poor. We had two hole days no water and electricity but had to pay full price. The price are fluctuating dayly and are sometimes really unfair. People who came two day later paid $ 45,= for the same room we paid $ 30,= which was already overpriced. They make serious abuse of the deficit on rooms and services during the highseason. That does not feel good.

Our stay at Four Sisters' was one of the highlights of our stay in Myanmar. And it's not only because of its privileged position by the river bank or its clean rooms. Above all, it was about the very welcoming hosts, four Burmese sisters that did all they could to make our stay as relaxed and cozy as possible. Just one example: at New Year's Eve they home-cooked a special dinner for all their guests, totally free of charge.
It's a place where you feel like home and it perfectly suits the laid back atmosphere of Nyanungshwe.
Strongly recommended for backpackers!

Room Tip: In Myanmar, during peak-season, it's completely useless to try to call and book an hotel room. T...

The hotel is family run and the manager is very friendly and helpful, if always trying to upsell services..... that said she seemed to be offering reasonable value on everything. She speaks self-taught English but some of the rest of the staff speak little English.

The hotel is a small and basic budget hotel. Hot water is only available sometimes. We found first thing in the morning was the best for hot water. The breakfast was good, fast and plentiful.

It is located on the edge of town near the river. The river is a working river so activity (i.e. noise) around the hotel seemed to start very early. It is easy enough to walk into the centre of Nyaung Shwe.

The warmth of the welcome went a long way to counter-balance the lack of hot water etc.

Hot showers only during the day when it is hot anyway, good breakfast with pancake, egg and toast. Tidy rooms though a bit dim, when my light didn't work they reluctantly moved me to another room when I asked for a discount, as they couldn't fix it that night. Not too far to walk, maybe ten minutes max to the market, but it is the furthest guesthouse, I think. I'd stay again!

The inn has mostly cold water showers and the lightbulbs make it so dim it's impossible to read in the rooms. The fans are situated above the beds, facing away from them so only the door gets any relief from the stifling heat. The restaurant has great food so spend your money on their meals and skip the lodging until the issues concerning comfort are resolved.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.
