“Lakeside luxury”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

We enjoyed our time here, although slightly marred on the first day as the builders next door rushed to complete a villa , but the GM explained the problem in advance and took care to make sure we were comfortable - he was very good at making sure all guests were happy.
Rooms are massive with large beds and massive picture windows looking over the lake. The shower is slightly eccentric and tends to go from cold to very hot and back , before reverting to hot again - a bit disconcerting. We enjoyed the food which had a wide range and was well cooked. Staff, particularly those in the restaurant were charming. This was really nice place in which to stay

This hotel is the most beautiful hotel we stayed during our 9 days trip in Myanmar (between 4 hotels).
The hotel has only 18 rooms but they are building another 11 villas.

The rooms and bathrooms are very big and everything is though to the detail (ex: big and small flippers for man and woman). The housekeeping prepares the room with so much care that you are "forced" to leave tips. At the reception they know every client and they prepare your room key and a wet towel as soon as they see you arriving with the boat.
The Spa is also very good; they do not have a huge choice of services but they deliver very well what they have and it is also extremely cheap.

It is also pleasant that the GM is always going around and securing that their guests are being served well.

What is missing is a pool but the GM told us they are planning one soon. And maybe, once the hotel will expand, the breakfast buffet could also be improved.

The restaurant serves a wide choice of dishes (Asian, Myanmar, European) and the quality is good. Staying in this resort you are forced to eat here in the night because there is nothing else around.

I would advice this place to anyone (except for partygoers).

Room Tip: Ask for lake front villas

This is a small boutique resort located right on the shore of Inle Lake. Most of the villas have sweeping views of the lake. The rooms are beautiful with large bathrooms and beds oriented toward the lake view. The hotel and rooms have all the amenities to make for a wonderful stay. I did not use the spa but treatment prices were very reasonable. The restaurant has an extensive menu of both Asian and international dishes all of which were very well executed. The staff are warm and welcoming, and they have a very good command of English. Our room had a strong musty smell that abated with turning on the air conditioning. Overall, I do not think that there is a better property in this area.

Room Tip: select a lake front villa

Stayed Middle November great location on the lake make sure you book a lake side villa to get the view. Great villas, clean and large. Food is good but expensive as you will have to eat at hotel nearest village is about an hour by rough road, or 35 min by boat but nothing travels at night. Some of the restaurant staff could do with a little customer skills and be careful if you shower as the the water surges from cold to very very hot, but these are minor things. Reccomended

Room Tip: Get a beach side villa

We booked for three nights via our travel agency, part of a private guided tour in Myanmar. Upon arrival we were told by the manager that due to a misunderstanding between the agencies we could not be lodged in a lake view villa, as reserved 7 months in advance and prepaid, but in a villa with garden view. After expressing our great disagreement and disapointment we were promised, guaranteed, a lake view villa for the remaining two nights. At dinner the manager told us this dinner plus two glasses of wine were on the house ($ 16,-). As promised we moved to a brand new, with not yet completely finished roof, lake view villa. Upon my remark that the manager better cut the three trees right in front of the new villa, a gardener was called upon who immediately started curting away the branches which greatly improved the view.
Overall the resort is lovely, spacious room and bathroom, the right amenities like torch lamp and anti musquitos spray. Very very friendly staff. Good massage, attarctive prices in the spa and the restaurant. Dinner is from moderate to excellent. Excellent food if you order the right thing, like spicy prawns. Very attractive prices. The view, especillay at sunset, is stunning. Working on the remaining new villas during the evening spoiled a bit the calm of the evening on the terrace.

Room Tip: Would be nice to have a swimming pool at the resort

We flew into Heho airport, and took the transfer to the quaintly named "jetty town" to board a long, low, narrow boat to get our first view of Inle Lake. We passed several other resorts on the way in, which seemed quite big, but we couldn't spot Villa Inle...eventually, after watching the leg-rowers at work on the lake, the engine note dropped and we nosed our way into an inlet between the floating fields. Eventually we reached a tiny hut perched on stilts where we cut the engine entirely, and in order to preserve the peace of the resort, were taken in to the jetty by a leg-rower.

The reception is small and open plan, and the welcome was warm and full of smiles. We were taken on the short walk to our villa, and were just stunned by the quality, size, fixtures and fittings.

Each villa is on stilts, so you climb some steps up to the room. The room itself was a huge vaulted space, dominated by a vast bed with a mosquito net suspended from the peak of the roof - a good 15 feet high! The room itself was all made of teak, as was the furniture, and had all mod cons. At the front of the room, overlooking the lake, was a very large decking/balcony area with chairs and a table, where we sat to watch the sun set over the Shan mountains, the lake, and the cultivated fields just below the balcony. At the back of the room, a sliding door led to a bathroom that was almost as big as the bedroom - a double ended bath in the middle, with neck cushions built in; a pair of teak statues holding a pole between them served as the towel holder; his and hers sinks with brass fittings in the shape of frangipani flowers, a separate toilet and a separate shower room - all beautifully decorated and finished to a very high standard indeed.

Meals were taken in the main restaurant; prices are quite high especially when you consider the cost of living out there and the fact that we were a captive audience, but the quality was excellent.

There are only 16 villas at the resort, so the whole place was beautifully tranquil, and a great place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. We loved it.

Room Tip: I think almost all the villas have a lake view - but one or two look like the view is more of the ga...

As noted in other review, this place is highly recommended and a pleasure to stay at. That said, the staff could definitely be a little less overbearing during meals (it's a fine line between being inattentive and being annoying). Otherwise, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

One larger annoyance has to do with renting a boat and driver for the day. They outsource this to Inle Boy boat rental, and you end up paying roughly double for no additional service. We were told that the driver/guide would have bottled water for us - he didn't. It is fine if the resort wants to outsource the boat service, but they should make sure that the service is up to their high standards. This means (1) having guides who speak English on par with the resort employees, (2) ensuring the company to which they outsource understand their clientele, (3) provide comforts on the same level as that which the resort offers (i.e., they could have extra padding on the chairs, better umbrellas, supply branded ponchos, etc.). This should all be contrasted with the taxi service to/from Heho. For that, the resort uses much nicer cards, provides bottled water, A/C, etc. and is generally a much much better experience than going through the normal taxi service. For boat rental this is not the case.

That said, this is still a very good resort and is highly recommended, but do yourself a favor and book a boat in town.

Room Tip: Definitely pay extra for the lake view.
