We stayed at Inle Resort in June, which was a very low season and it seemed that we were one of the only guests there. We had a huge lake front bungalow witch had a large porch, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. In front of our bungalow was Inle lake and I will never forget watching the sunset here, the large white lotus flowers floating on the lake and two black swans swimming in front of the bungalow.
To get there required flying to Heho and taking a 45 minute cab drive to catch a 1/2 hour boat to the resort. In the morning we we picked up by a private boat from the hotel to go sightseeing around the lake.
The service at this hotel was almost too much. At any given moment we left the room several employees offered to help us. While we were eating at the restaurant an employee was standing by the table observing if she could help in any way. Finally we had to ask her not to look at us while we were eating. A whole group of people came to pick up our bags or to do the evening letdown service.
The bedroom had mosquito nets above the beds, but we were not bothered with mosquitos even though it was the rainy season.
The food at the restaurant was good if you stay with the burmese options. The pizza, which my kids wanted was overcooked. The hotel is isolated and you will have to eat dinner/breakfast here unless you eat before returning from sighseeing. For breakfast they chose for us, which did not work very well. Sometimes we got a great breakfast, but the morning when they had decided to serve us eggs and we did not want them. We only had tea and toast.
There was an internet station in the lobby, but the connection was very bad. You could reach only certain websites, but not e-mail.
This hotel is a beatiful place to stay. Very romantic and convenient to sightseeing on the lake. In one day you can see the Inle Lake. Most of the sightseeing is visiting all kinds of artisans and their stores. We arranged to do a day trip to the lower lake, which was more interesting. The boat ride there was 2 1/2 hours both ways.

- on Inle Lake, this resort is built in that typical Inda fashion – bamboo huts over the water. Our room was quite large, with a nice balcony overlooking the lake. We had a beautiful sunset to view from the balcony.
- The hotel amenities are fine. There is no television, fridge or safe in room.
- The bathroom was very large, clean, with good water supply. Plenty of hot water.
- Dinner was fine, especially since our guide selected the Myanmar food for our meal. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and dry bread, which was presented as toast. Our guide added a Myanmar noodle soup, their traditional breakfast dish in her village.
- This hotel was fine for one night. We appreciated the peace and quiet, although the boats do run until dusk and start up again at dawn. The balcony was a real plus allowing us to watch the fishermen with their one leg rowing. But more than one night would probably start to get long, especially since there is not really much to do there after dark.
- The hotel now boasts of having 24 hour electricity.
- Recommended for Inle Lake as it is built to capture the spirit of the lake. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The cabins are clean, spacious and well appointed. The view form our room was beautiful with sunset a particularly positive experience.

I would return here http://www.inleresort.com/ again! The place is exquisite and very peaceful, beautiful surrounds. Rooms are large with lake view. Its tucked away on the lake. Nice architectural details. When you check in, the porter goes through the entire room and how to operate things e.g. lights, AC, etc. The restaurant had excellent local and western food. The massage at the spa was very mediocre and pricey at $27 USD which was 10% off usual price. The only challenge we had was transportation. From the airport, the hotel is 40 minutes by car and 20 minutes by boat so if you do not have this prearranged you are stuck paying whatever the taxis demand ($30+) at Heho airport to Nyaung Shwe pier. Either have hotel set up complete transport or better go through a travel agency which is usually cheaper or maybe bus or hitch hike if you can speak Burmese! The boat ride from Nyaung Shwe pier to hotel was about 5,000 kyats (current rate was approx. $1 = 1,000 kyats) but always negotiate!! A full day boat ride on the lake can range from $10-15, remember touting is commonplace in this part of the world so if you buy something from a merchant more than likely your boat driver will get a piece of the action.

This hotel is in serious need of some work and was quite disappointing after staying at the much nicer Tharabar Gate in Bagan and Savoy in Rangon. Aside from the novelty of being near to the lake, this hotel had little to offer. The food was over-priced and not very good and the room was small and poorly appointed. It was evident that this is NOT an internationally managed place (and if it is, then the international mgmt. could use some help).

Beware that if you stay here, all of your meals will be had inside of the hotel ($8 for fried rice).

Really disappointing...

Inle Resort is at the north end of Inle Lake, with chalets surrounding a pool on the lake itself. Our too short three day stay was a real treat, with great service, a large chalet overlooking the water with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. Clean and airy the accommodation was to a high standard. Meals were good for Myanmar, though a touch limited in choice, and travelling everywhere by boat, watching the famous leg-rowing fishermen ply their trade was a real joy. We felt sorry for all those involved in the tourist trade in Myanmar, though - tourism was over seventy percent down on last year, because of the uprising by the monks in September that only lasted two weeks. Why are people so gullible as to swallow what the western media tell us, and so scared to take a chance once in a while? For this reason, though, although the service was absolutely faultless, it's hard to know if it would be so good if the hotel was full to bursting, rather than running on empty. Would I recommend it though? Absolutely! A great location and all thge facilities you need for such a place - don't expect night life though!

  • Liked — the stunning location

Very pleasant and friendly hotel. The sunset from room 104 is fantastic. Rooms were clean and well-kept, but the walls are paper thin. I would not like to stay there if the hotel were crowded - which it was not during my stay. The restaurant is OK but drinks are overpriced. As the hotel is on the lake you are captive to its restaurant.

Inle Resort is located between Inle Princess Resort and Maing Thauk village.
It is in the middle of the nature. Some bungalows are on the lake and we have the feeling to sleep in the middle of the water. For the others bungalows, which are cheaper, you are an amazing view on the mountains. From the pontoon, it's possible to take a drink for enjoying the sunset !!!
All the bungalows are very nice and people will help you to organize your visits. You can also rent bikes to discover the village of Maing Thauk and discuss with Shan people. Definitively, Inle Resort is an excellent choice to visit Inle.
