“Good value, service and location.”

Nandawun has old fashioned bungalows arranged attractively around a recessed courtyard. It is not luxurious, but for $25 per night was one of our best values in Myanmar. We had a clean, quiet room with king bed, hot water, TV and refrigerator. The location was good and we easily walked to the river, market, local restaurants and puppet show.

Nyi Nyi in the front office has good English and was helpful in setting up excursions and taxi's. He always followed up to be sure we were satisfied with his arrangements.

The breakfast was plain, but after the first day we brought in supplemental fruit, etc., which they did not seem to mind.

We had a delightful stay in Nyaung Shwe and Nandawun suited us well. We would go back.

You will be in good hands at the Nanda Wunn. True it is a slightly worn 70's kind of place but it has its charms. I found the location excellent, because it was closer to some of the better restaurants and the canal is only a short walk away. The family who run it are delightful. Don't come here for the supplied breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask to have a front or mid block room. The last one in the back corner (mine) has an awful fluoro l...

This hotel looks like it’s been standing quite a few years through the thick and thin of tourism in Burma. It’s a bungalow style complex with four rooms per bungalow. The rooms are simple, but adequate. The TV is tiny, but there isn’t much on anyway. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean and the hot water works a treat. The staff are courteous and helpful whcih we found to be typical of people in Burma. The location of the hotel is good. It’s about 500meters to the town center and market. The breakfast was pretty average, but after having traveled in Burma a bit over the last few weeks, I think this is not perculiar to this hotel. I think someone has been through and made it regulation to serve “American Breakfast”. Not sure who determined that this is what Americans eat, but if they do, I don’t think I’ll be visiting the Americas any time soon.

On the whole, we loved Nyang Shwe and the lake and could have spent another two nights there. The boat on the lake was nice, but it takes quite a long time to get out into the main area of the lake from town. Once out there it was great. The weaving of lotus fibres goes down as one of the most painstaking jobs I’ve every witnessed. The silver-smiths were skilled, although what they were producing was not from overly inspired designs I thought. The food here is good. There are some local places and also a restaurant called the Golden Kite. The owner is curiously infatuated with Italian food. He spoke at length of his love for pasta making which asides from being quite interesting was also hilarious, complete with Italian accent and mannerisms at times. The best part of our stay in Nyang Shwe was renting a couple of bicycles and just riding the small roads and trails around the outside of town. It’s a really beautiful area and we met a lot of friendly people. Nyang Shwe I think was my favorite stop on our trip in Burma. I’d highly recommend spending some time here.

We stayed at the Nanda Wunn for 4 nights during our first trip to the Inle Lake area in May, 2007. I believe we paid $24 a night for this hotel.

The location of the hotel is a little set away from all the action in the rest of the town, out away from the canal -- but Nyaungshwe is small enough to easily all be explored on foot or via bicycle. We came to appreciate the location, since it was on the "quiet" side of town.

Our room was a decently sized one, with 2 beds. The hotel does have AC though they do suffer the same power outages you'll experience throughout the country. The bathroom was a bit dark, but certainly serviceable.

Staff was very friendly, and arranged our boat ride on Inle Lake, including a trip to Indein at no additional cost. The restaurant was nothing to write home about -- and Nyaungshwe has such an abundance of good eateries, you really should get out and explore.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would certainly consider it again when we return to Nyaungshwe.

We paid $23/night for our medium-sized twin room. We had a night stand with lamp, luggage rack, closet, TV w/remote (only two channels), minibar, and a veranda with two chairs. Our bath had a tub with hand-held shower and a separate shower head. In fact, it had two separate faucets at each end of the tub.

The hotel is located on the main street very near the most recommended places to eat, the Aung Puppet Show (don't miss this), and the incredible massage place run by the Win Nyunt family. The staff were helpful but not overly friendly and a very nice breakfast was included in the rate.

We looked at several hotels/inns and this looked like the very best of all except the outrageously expensive hotels out on the lake. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in town.
