“5 star in my opinion”
Reviewed 10 February 2013

What a lovely surprise. We had never visited Battambang before and we weren’t too sure what to expect as far as accommodation. We were thrilled with the Bambu Hotel. It didn’t look like much when we were dropped off, so I was a little worried. But once through the ‘gates’ we were delighted. We were greeted by the staff and by Pat, the English proprietor, and we were made to feel special and welcome immediately.
Rooms were super clean. The pool is salt water. I think the best thing about the hotel is that the restaurant, café, bar, lounge area and pool are all in the same area. Sounds funny but it worked perfectly. The guests coming in and out all have to pass each other which made the whole atmosphere one of family and friends rather than hotel guests. We all spoke with each other and every one was super friendly. Staff joined in and the smiles abounded.
We may have had some tiny issues with our TV and DVD Player (yes, there was a DVD player in our room!), but Pat fixed it within 5 minutes. He is nearly always on call and nothing is too much trouble.
Every meal and beverage we ordered was delivered to our table fresh and in a timely manner, and the food was awesome to taste.
I have posted some of my photos about the hotel to keep my rambling down, but suffice to say, if in any doubt at all about accommodation in BB, choose this hotel. You won’t be disappointed.
I am adding this paragraph to all of my reviews: To all those travellers and holiday-makers who are too rude or too stupid to acknowledge hospitality staff (or any goods or service provider) with a smile, or by simply saying please or thank you, please stay home in future. You embarrass not only yourself, but the nation from which you come and all of us who are near you at the time. I am insulted by your ignorance.

Room Tip: Room with a pool view topped this hotel off for us, but I would have enjoyed my time there in any ev...

We drove from Siem Reap to Battambang for a 2 night stay. We were thrilled when we saw the Bambu Hotel & met Pat & Lucky. Lucky is a lovely Cambodian who works in reception. He took care of us immediately. Pat an Englishman introduced himself & told us all about the hotel & suggested places to visit during our stay. In fact, we found a itinerary of sorts in our room detailing where & why along with how far & costs by Tuk-Tuk. Our spacious double room overlooked the pool. As always the staff were extremely friendly & very eager to accomodate. The restaurant & food were fabulous. The menu was extensive & as well as Khymer food had a wide variety of western food to choose from. The bar by the pool was a terrific place to wind down with a drink afyer a busy day or night out. No complaints whatsoever. Cannot wait to return

Room Tip: As this a small boutique hotel, there were only 2 rooms overlooking the pool. However, again, being...

Battambang is on the road between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Choosing Bambu will bring you to a nice boutique hotel. Usely in Cambodia tourists go to big nice hotels but they are all the same. Bambu is special, nice atmosphere at the bar in the evening, very helpful staff. The rooms are spacious, the swimming pool cools you after the journey, breakfast is plentiful for a new day. Ask for it to your travel agency.

Room Tip: ask for a room on fist floor with a pool view

What a host. Pat was terrific. From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were absolutely fab - attention to detail! We were a group of 4 friends and were made to feel like royalty. Pat organised our trip to Siem reap - private boat ! He supplied us with packed lunch - massive club sandwiches - delish ! - gin & tonic, lime and ice, a slab of beer. Wish we had stayed there longer. Will definitely return to Cambodia if only to stay at the Bambu.

Room Tip: We stayed in the best rooms, but did see the others - all great.

After a long (and almost entirely enjoyable) boat trip from Siem Reap, we weren't sure what to expect of the Bambu Battambang Hotel. And WOW, were we thrilled when we drove up! It did help that we were upgraded to the suite in the main house with a huge balcony complete with 2 hammocks, but even before we knew about that we were enchanted by the pool, bar and restaurant courtyard. A beautiful room, extremely comfortable bed, huge bathroom (with a great shower), gorgeous pool, and excellent food. Couldn't ask for more! More expensive than other places in Battambang, sure, but worth it!

We stayed in the Bambu Hotel in Battambang for two nights in December 2012. The hotel is lovely and the atmosphere very relaxing. We loved the pool area with the bar and restaurant. Our room was spacious with a nice balcony. The room itself is quite basic although it does have everything you need. At night time there was a lot of noice in the room (even at 4.30 AM we heard loud music from a party nearby, maybe because we were there during Christmas). And we woke up very early due to construction work nearby which started at 6.30 AM. Probably it's noisy more often since we found ear plugs in the room. There is a happy hour in the bar every day where they serve great cocktails (try the Bambu Mojito!) and Pat, the owner, is a very friendly host who offered us a free first drink in the bar. Battambang is very quiet with just a few restaurants so two days for us was more than enough in this city.

Comfortable and pleasant, good service and reasonable restaurant. It's remoteness from town means you have to be motivated to go in to eat, but they have bikes (do the Heritage Trail - maps on internet). Felt some indifference from management - they were present, but drinking with friends rather than checking on customers.
p.s. no evidence of porcine smells per previous reviews
