“Decent place”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

Stayed here for 1.5 nights as part of a lightning visit to Battambang (caught night bus on day 2 but kept the room to have as a base until midnight).

Rooms massive and clean though no lift which could be an issue for the mobility impaired (or lazy). Breakfast pretty good. Location a short distance from central market area - only 5 minutes on foot though, and very close to the buses / boat station.

Not a huge amount to do in the town itself but worth a trip for the bamboo train alone - not used much by locals any more but brilliant fun as you whizz along the bumpy track. Would also recommend going to the circus if timing works. Great food options in town.

A word of warning - the overnight "luxury hotel bus" to Sihanoukville run by Virak Buntham Express Travel (and advertised on poster on reception desk) was HORRIFIC. It is nothing like in the picture - tiny, cramped pods and impossible to sleep. Also no sheets provided contrary to what was stated. It also took around 15 hours via a three hour stopoff in Phnom Penh then transferring to a scruffy local bus. Avoid at all costs. Use someone like Giant Ibis instead and get a bus with reclining seats, not beds.

Room Tip: Get a room on the lower floors if you have an issue with stairs.

Staff friendly, hotel clean, reception helpful.. Rooms are quite big after you lug your luggage up the stairs, no lift.. Bathroom is a wet room and the shower is weird with two heads.. Hot water worked well.. The bed is hard like all beds in these types of hotels.. There is a mini bar in the lobby for cold drinks for purchase... Tuk tuks out the front, but everything is generally in walking distance shops, good grub and smelly markets.. Not bad..

This hotel is pretty good overall. The bad reviews on here are people with expectations too high. The location is a bit further from the markets but they weren't interesting to us anyway. The aircon is good, there's hot water and fast wi-fi. The breakfast was great and the lady running the hotel assured me there was good coffee, and there was! They booked our bus tickets with no commission as well.

Battambang to say the least was disappointing, the town is nowhere what it once was. The Asia Hotel was ok given the price I guess but the beds were hard the rooms quite dated and another hotel with the shower in the toilet so everything gets wet. We didn't eat here so can't comment on this but will say that the staff were very very nice and pleasant with a lovely smile every time we had to drop off or get our key. Long walk down to where anything is!!!

We stayed just for one night. The price is reasonable for air con and hot water. The room was very clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and a generous size for the price and they have very good coffee! We booked a bus through them as it was cheap and they made us a pack up to take with us for a small price and walked us to the bus station. Very lovely receptionist. Would defiantly recommend!

The hotel is brilliant for this price range, those complaining about things are obviously expecting luxury or up market hotels which this is not, but not in a bad way!

I don't know where previous reports state about lack of communication with the desk girls and staff. All of them have good English and are very helpful with the main manage being excellent.

Rooms are big, nice comfy bed, good air conditioning and overhead fan if not. Bathroom good, yes floor does get wet as it is like a wet room- not a big deal! Drains quickly though! Fridge was a handy asset. No safe in room, though the hotel is perfectly safe, obviously leaving lots of money just lying around may be different!

Wifi works extremely well in rooms, able to skype extremely well, best in SE Asia so far! Breakfast included in room rate is basic, omelette with baguette, toast etc but is a good way to start the day.

We tour with Mr Dollar, $10 each out all day, who was brilliant! Great English, funny, interesting and takes you right off the beaten track!

Brilliant stay in Battambang here, just a shame it was only for 2 nights!

Stayed here for one night as part of an intrepid tour.

The hotel room we had was quite good. Our room (3rd floor at the very end) was extremely spacious. The furnishings of the room were very grand and we're a nice touch. Things were clean, the bed wasn't too hard, and you didn't need the room key to keep the power on - great for charging stuff when you're out, which is something most hotels in the region lacked. The main drawback was the bathroom. It's one of those wet room types where the shower unit hangs over the sink and the entire place ends up wet. Also, there's no in-room safe box but then that's pretty normal in the region.

Location isn't that great. There's practically nothing within walking distance, but a short tuk tuk ride can get you to restaurants. The town is pretty quiet, so you should do a countryside tour and the bamboo train (which cost us $10 USD). Didn't eat breakfast here so can't comment. Also note that there are no elevators at this hotel.
