“Lovely Gardens, Charming Boutique”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

The grounds are serene. Maisons features beautiful gardens, with a trellised patio, small pond, and an outdoor pool. They offer a set menu for dinner, so be sure to notify them in advance of any dietary needs. The hotel is too far from the main town to walk to other restaurants. Maisons bakes all of its own bread and pastries. The bread was wonderful--firm crust with an even and soft internal texture. The dinner was creatively embellished and good. The rooms are clean and the atmosphere is quiet.

Our cable was out, the room could use more lighting for the evening (plenty of windows for the day), the doors don't quite lock properly (and are easily pulled open with a little bit of force when they do catch), and it took a while to cool the room down, but this hotel is still a nice stop on the way to or from Siem Reap.

We liked the location in the outskirts of Battambang. This hotel is charming, clean and eco-friendly. The rooms are large enough with a large desk and a sitting corner with two arm chairs and a table. The bathroom is perfect and decorated with a large pot with fresh flowers. The staff is very nice and always ready to help. The safe box in my room was not working, so the manager kindly offered me to put my stuff in the safe in his office. The rooms need more light, especially on or above the desk. The restaurant menu was delicious for a reasonable price. Because of the “weeding season”, we heard some music late at night and early in the morning, and contrary to the review Pascal L. who did not like that, we appreciated and had the felling to share a little bite of the local life.

Well. Where to start?
I came to Cambodia in December 2013 ( I know this review is a little late) and was visiting cities and hotels as I am a travel agent working in Indochina.
The second I step foot at this charming and authentic address, I already started to feel cozy and tranquil. It was calm as the hotel was situated just outside of the city centre of Battambang. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the kind staff and did our check in.
Unfortunately, since I was on business I couldn't really stay that long in the hotel however, the rooms were beautiful and had everything they needed, there was a pool that was absolutely gorgeous and the restaurant has great meals prepared by a young talented chef called Sarak ( he makes very good mousse au chocolat as well!). If there was any constructive criticism, it would be to work on the garden a bit more, a bit more lighting for the rooms ( as it does get quite dark outside) and maybe more choices in the restaurant.
If there was anything I could say to the owner of this beautiful place ( Mr.Kim Nou), I would say that he should continue the good work ( as he only opened this place recently!) and that I wish him all the best. I will return again for sure!

Maisons Wat Kor is a great alternative to staying in the heart of busy Battanbang.
Located in a small village situated along the river, the only sounds are crickets, roosters and sometimes music from the nearby temple. In the morning and evening it's pleasant to stroll along the quiet road and see the friendly local folks going about their business. A really nice change after crowded Siem Reap.

The Wat Kor village is nationally known for it's historically-significant Khmer houses, several of which are open for informal tours in which the owner asks for a small donation of your choosing. The rooms at Maisons Wat Kor are in the historic style and are beautifully detailed. They are also terrific value.

Be aware that the central city is a 10-minute ride away by tuk-tuk. The hotel will call a tuk-tuk for you with about 15 minute notice. The owner and staff are quite friendly and helped us book local tours at good prices, there is a nice pool and the breakfast (included in the room rate) was simple but tasty.

Room Tip: We stayed upstairs, in two rooms that had a shared deck with a nice outlook.

we were very pleased with our choice. we spent 2 nights and whished we stayed longer. Beautiful spacious rooms in a luxuriant garden. More powerfull light bulbs at night would definitely be welcome. As it is a small hotel it has a very intimate feel. The swimming pool is great and pretty big. We spent an afternoon lying on the sunchairs surrounded by palm trees and banana trees and had the swiming pool to ourselves. heaven! It is a few minutes away from downtown, yet in a quiet countryside location close to the river. We were pampered by the owner Mr kim Nou who organized our visits in the beautiful countryside around Battambang and transfer to Siem Reap. Breakfast was good. We had dinner one night and it was ewcellent. Highly recommended to those seeking authenticity and charm.

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor by the swimming pool. It was great. Quiet and very clean.

After an abysmal experience at our hotel in Siem Reap, we checked out early and headed for Battambang. As soon as we arrived we were thrilled we had chosen Maisons Wat Kor.
Maisons is a bit out of town, however the 20 minute, $2 tuk tuk ride is worth the effort. It is deafeningly quiet and the attention to detail is exquisite.
There are 10 bungalow style rooms here that can be adjoining or separate, great for families with children or friends holidaying together. However you won't hear a peep out of the next room, as they have considered the need for privacy.
Set in what looks to be an overgrown garden by day, by night it comes alive and is quite magical, with strategically placed lighting illuminating the trees, pathways and lotus pond, giving you the feeling you are staying in a forest. Most of the fruits, flowers and herbs that are grown in the garden are used in the hotel.
The rooms are large and stylish with comfortable beds, flat screen tv's and a lovely bathroom with separate shower.
The food here is well priced, sensationally good and is presented beautifully, everything you eat or drink here is and it is worth staying in for dinner at least once. Breakfast is continental with fruit, muesli, yoghurt, hand baked bread and home made jam. The coffee is good and the extensive selection of teas are served in lovely little china tea pots.
Try a fresh lemon grass or basil iced tea in the afternoon, the perfect pick me up after a long day of sightseeing.
The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Service is always carried out with a smile and they are genuinely interested in helping you. The manager, Song Keat speaks Cambodian, English and French and is the perfect host who goes out of his way to make sure your stay is a pleasurable one.
I cannot sing the praises of this hotel highly enough, you seriously need to indulge yourself and stay here. The only complaint I would have is that there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms, however the staff are more than willing to bring you a cup if you ask.
I doubt you will find better than this hotel anywhere in Battambang, it gets five stars from us!

Room Tip: There are only ten villas, any one of them would be fine. If you are elderly or frail, ask for one o...

We had originally planned to stay in the middle of town during our stay in Battambang. I am so glad we opted to change our reservations, based on other tripadvisor reviews. Maisons Wat Kor was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our entire time in Cambodia and one of the best hotels I've stayed at in years. It is an oasis of tranquility, yet you can still feel the pulse of the country through the Khmer music that plays in nearby temples and by walking across the street to the busy river to watch the fishermen throw their nets.

This place is small, but the perfect size. Any more rooms and it would lose some of if its charm. We loved ambling from our room to the swimming pool, then back up to the main building for drinks, etc. The staff is just wonderful (I cannot express strongly enough how wonderful) and the proprietor is a gentle, welcoming man, recently returned home to Cambodia after decades of exile in France. His story is tragic, but ultimately inspirational, uplifting and you can see his life experiences reflected throughout the hotel.

We ate dinner there only one of our two nights. What fools we were to waste our time at the restaurants in town. The Chef at the hotel is sublime and the Khmer food was truly the best we had during our entire trip. I am still thinking of the papaya salad, grilled pork rolls and Amok we had. The Amok in particular was out of this world. The fine selection of French wines take the dinner to another level entirely.

Our room was elegant and spacious, extremely clean and tastefully decorated. My only wish was for a little more light in the evenings, but that is minor.

Others have talked of the distance of the property from town, but I didn't feel like it was an issue at all. In fact, I thought it was in a perfect location as the town was easily accessible by tuktuk, yet you felt that you were away from the rush and the traffic. It was the only time during our trip to Cambodia where we just melted into complete relaxation. For the first time that I can remember, we actually planned our day's excursion to get us back to the hotel in the early afternoon so we could spend more time in utter calm and peace.
