“The best experience in Battambang”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

We arrived in Battambang on a rainy Thursday evening and found ourselves in Gecko Bar (well worth a visit for good cocktails). Having left the hustle of Siem Reap we were a little underwhelmed by the location and turned to Tripadvisor for advice. We contacted Bart and arranged to be collected the following day by his charming son who showed us the sites and gave us an invaluable insight into the area. We would highly recommend the Bamboo train and killing caves (although uncomfortable, it provides an insight into the atrocities the country has experienced). The highlight was the cooking class at the family home where we were made to feel welcome and learned to cook some of the best food we ate on our trip. If you find yourself in Battambang get in touch with Bart, it will be one of your best and most memorable experiences of Cambodia. It was certainly ours.

“Awesome Guide and Chef”
Reviewed 27 September 2012

Due to the good reviews on Trip Advisor we booked a cooking class with Bart. We cooked 3 different meals at his home together with his wife. At the end you get a little booklet with all the receipts in it. Of course it is not a 5 Star Kitchen but therefore a real authentic experience! The food we made was outstanding, very delicious!

Bart also offers Tours and Homestays in rural Areas. We joined a one day trip on his Tuk Tuk which was absolutely amazing. We stopped in Family run business such as Rice-Paper producers and weavers which produces scarfs. Ancient temples, the Killing Caves, a community run fish fabric, a crocodile farm,a man who breads fight fishes and a personal insight view of the Khmer Rouge time, all this was part of our trip.

A day out with Bart is highly recommended and a lot of fun!

“Authentic Khmer Experience”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

Bart teaches not only cooking classes, but also drives Tuk-Tuk.

First we did a Tuk-Tuk Trip with Bart around Battambang, which was an awesome day. What it made one of the best days in Cambodia was Bart himself. Bart is a very interesting and knowledgeable guy. He explained us a lot about Buddhism, about the monks, about the time under the Khmer rouge and about the Cambodian way of life. If you're considering of doing a trip, go with Bart, you won't regret it.

The cooking class was great. We made 3 different dishes. It is not a professional cooking class, you cook with Bart's family at his home, but that's exactly what it makes so unique!

This guy was absolutely fantastic! Sambath is a tuk tuk driver that lives near to the village of Battambang his cooking classes were AMAZING.
We cooked at his mothers home so we really had the feeling that we were working with local people. We went together to the market and we've done a fantastic tour around battambang.
Sambath even served us snake blood to drink. The classes were fun and i will never ever forget him.
We enjoyed the classes that much that we even did a homestay at his place for two days. It is a one hour drive from Battambang but you have the possibility to live the real life, no streets, no elektricity.... Just nature!
