We enjoyed our drive from Castro out to the National Park. I would describe the trip as pleasant and interesting but not fabulous or particularly memorable. The walks were well signposted and easy to follow.

The National Park of Chiloé is a really nice place and offers great nature and views. The whole part and the walks, that can be found around the park information center are in good conditions and offer a nice design.
But we were very disappointed by the fact, that beside the few walks (longest 2km) there is nothing you can really do unguided. So if one really wants to visit the park and see it in a whole, one has to take a guided tour.
I really hope the Conaf will manage it in the future to offer a wider range of unguided treks and activities, which are not only located 3km around the station.

The park itself is not very exciting, although we only visited sector Anay, but the camping site inside the park is great! You get assigned a spot that is surrounded by trees and plants, giving the sensation of sleeping in the forest all by yourself. You can also choose to sleep next to the lake where presumably you can spot otters. There is also a lovely, small café where you need to reserve your camping spot. They have friendly staff, wifi and you can ask about the different senderos (trails) that you can walk in and around the park.

While not the most exciting park we've ever visited, it was pleasant enough and we were enjoying the unusual dry weather in Chiloe too!

If you have a limited time in Chile, you should go to Atacama and Patagonia instead. While it is cool to walk above the forest on a boardwalk, the terrain and flora are not very unique.
