Ideally located for one night stop. You can catch sunrise just around the corner and sunset is not too far away. The Xihai canyon is also about 30mins hike away.
The twin room is very cosy and we are able to see the Taiping cable car from our window.
Room is clean but small. What to expect when everything is man transported up.
I was surprised that there was coffee and tea making facilities provided.

This hotel located at the Mt. Huangshan. The nearest hotel to go to Lion Peak for those who wants to see the sunrise. Unfortunately I was late at that time so the Lion Peak already pack with people. Make sure you bring your coat or jacket because even I went there on summer, the condition is very cold up there, especially the morning wind.
Because I join a tour, so I don't know what type of room. The room is small with twin bed inside. I got at the first floor so from the window, right outside the window, there's camping ground which makes us uncomfortable.
When the sun going to set, try to go outside and you will see the beautiful color from the trees outside.
Overall, I enjoy a night stay in this hotel, especially the environment. The view is very amazing from Huangshan.

Previous reviewers had very negative things to say about the Shilin Hotel. Perhaps they only stayed in 1 place on the mountain top and were not able to compare the Shilin to other hotels in the vicinity. We stayed in 3 hotels over 3 nights and this one of the better places(the worst was Hotel Baiyun).

We arrived at 1:30 pm, exhausted and famished, having just hiked the Xihai Grand Canyon in gale-force winds and blowing rain. We didn't expect the room to be ready for us but it was! Although small, our Queen Room for 1040 rmb was bright and really, really clean (unlike the Baiyun, where I had to cajol the cleaning staff into vacuuming the carpet a ‘second’ time, as if there had been a first time). Sheets were snow-white, pillows were nice and soft mattress tops gave us a comfortable night’s rest. There was a water kettle in the room for boiling water. A market in the basement sells water, drinks, snacks and fresh fruit (all expensive, of course).

It’s a smaller hotel, just a few minutes away from the big Beihai Hotel. It was so quiet that we were able to sleep soundly until 4 am, when we rose to view the sunrise at Refreshing Terrace. The Shilin is the closest hotel to this scenic area. On the path up, I noticed a sign for the Qingliang Villas, some luxury properties also operated by the Shilin Hotel. Perhaps I can stay there when I next visit Huangshan.

Free wifi in the rooms with a strong signal (unlike at the Baiyun, where we had to sit in the smoke-filled lobby to get wifi). Good air conditioning too (unlike at, well, you know where).

Front desk employees were efficient and relatively pleasant.

Thanks to TA friend chinaloveland for suggesting the Shilin. And thanks to ctrip for helping us switch our reservation at the very last moment!

Stayed here overnight having booked a queen room with a view on ctrip. One of the most expensive hotels on our trip for a second rate hotel. Checked in only to find our queen room was actually a double. The room was so small I couldn't even squeeze to do a push up next to the bed. Not that I would want to with the cigarette ashes and dead moths on the carpet. Toilet was in the shower - just like cheap French motorway hotels, except not as nice. At least the view was nice. Took some serious discussion and multiple references to ctrip to change room to get a queen room as paid for. But this was without a view, but it did have space. Bed was hard as is normal in China, but cosy enough and a true queen bed. Air conditioning was good. Only issue with new room was the TV didn't work, and the bathroom smelled terrible in the afternoon. View was of the courtyard which was unattractive.
Restaurant was very good, with a good range of Chinese dishes which were excellent, but not cheap. Quite happy though to pay given the food was literally carried up the mountain by porters. Breakfast was ok - remembering this was a hotel in China. I had some eggs on sweet bread, while my wife had sponge cake and milk.

I'm writing this as a budget backpacker who stayed in the dorm room of the hotel, not the even more ridiculously priced rooms.
The hotel is at the top of the mountain in a decent location. All hotels here take advantage of people wanting to stay the night so all drinks, food and accommodation are overpriced and you don't get much for your money. It states that it is a 4 star hotel but it is more like a 2-3 star. We stayed in the dorm which has bunk beds. The rooms are filthy, bugs everywhere and I doubt the linen has been washed since the hotel opened in 1998. There is a scabby little shower room and the room itself is freezing. No lockers to secure your belongings either and the door to the dorm is not lockable when you want to go out. I daren't shower here and had to lug all my stuff around the mountains as I didn't trust leaving my stuff in the room as it has lots of people walking past. We didn't even get towels to shower, never saw any staff once we were dumped in this room. Either do what you can on the mountains in the day and go back to Tang Kou to sleep or pay for a better overpriced room.

This hotel, which opened in 1998, is located at the foot of Lion Peak in the Yellow Mountain region. Essentially, it's at the top of a mountain, accommodates hikers and has a very high throughput of guests (few stay more than one night). Thus, we didn't expect much. Imagine our surprise, therefore, when we discovered a comfortable, genuinely four-star hotel with good service and reasonable food. Inevitably, the rooms are small and the dining area soon becomes crowded and noisy at meal times. However, it does a pretty creditable job considering its location.
It can get chilly in the guest rooms - additional warmth is basically restricted to use of a 1 kW electric heater. However, we had plenty of blankets and after a hard day's hiking were soon snug in our beds and fast asleep.

Room Tip: If hiking early or late in the season, make sure you have plenty of warm clothes - the heating in gu...

Hotel room is a bit small but did fit an adult and 2 kids. Beds are ok, room is warm during the winter. You just have to bring your own toiletries as they charged you if you use theirs. Food on the hotel is a bit expensive but porters have to carry them up every single day. You will bump into this porters a lot, you will see them carry loads of goods up.
