The area is nice for having dinner and strolling around in the evening as the streets light up and it becomes very picturesque. At first it seemed to scream "tourist", but it is an ACTUAL ancient street and market area, now updated and modernised with a very commercial feel while still preserving much of the ancient architecture. There were food shops and handicraft shops and everything in between. We found the shopkeepers mostly friendly and willing to talk about their products without engaging in any hard sell techniques. Variety of products was good. This would be a good place to stock up on souvenirs as we found prices to be mostly fair, without the hyper inflated tourist markups of other cities.
