Me and my friends have stayed over 3 nights at The Stone Bridge Villa Home Sweet Home during mid October. Honestly its fantastic, highly recommended for travelers, who want to have clean and friendly experience. The moment we stepped in the lobby, it totally does not feel like china, its very clean, services are great and food are delicious. The owners of this hostel have been very helpful and friendly. Me and my friends definitely enjoy staying at The Stone Bridge. One of the best hostel around China. Thank you so much to Jessie and Ah Long for providing such a fantastic service for us. in our next trip to China, we would like to stay in The Stone Bridge Villa Home Sweet Home once more.

Room Tip: Mountain view with a balcony.

We spent two nights here in the triple room, and loved it. While its a bit of a walk from the center of Yangshuo (20-30 minutes depending on how fast you walk), its well worth it. Instead of being subjected to the chaotic madness that is downtown Yangshuo, you're in a quiet scenic valley. Our room was clean, and the wifi & AC both worked well. The owners are super friendly, and speak perfect English (they're expats). The cafe serves decent food. I'd definitely stay here again, if I happen to be in Yangshuo in the future.

My wife and I initially booked 2 nights here but ended up staying another as we both loved it so much! Stephen and Jess are such fantastic hosts, we were warmly met on arrival and they couldn't do enough for us during our time. Everything from laundry to bike hire to bookings and recommendations. It definitely is a home from home. We met a lovely Canadian couple travelling with their two children and breakfast was always a good social time where we swapped stories/tips. The rooms are superbly kept and the view of the mountains from our room was great. I would definitely recommend the Bamboo raft trip. We cycled up the river and got the raft back down (with the bikes) at sunset and it was one of the highlights of our time in China. We didn't love the touristy town (west street area) but there is so much more to see in the countryside and Stephen offers detailed directions of exactly where to go (with bike lights in the evening!!) Would definitely come back and stay here again and hope to in the future!

We booked the Stone Bridge following the good recommendations on tripadvisor looking for a home stay and cultural experience in yangshou. Truth is, we left rather disappointed with our choice. The place just lacks character. It is one of those new Chinese buildings that clutter the countryside of yangshou everywhere, tall, narrow, white in front and cement on the sides, they all look the same. At each side new buildings are erected and although the constructions did make sitting on the front porch an unappealing and dusty experience they did not cause noise at night and in fact got us up early as we wanted to. Inside everything shines of tiles, yes it was spotless clean but I missed some warmth and cosiness. Although the Australian owner knows the area pretty well, there is no local personnel around to talk to, in fact we did not meet anyone else at the Stone Bridge during our 3 night stay other than him and his wife Jessie. Basic breakfast is served for 35yuans and Jessie cooked us one meal at night which was very average. Most times we went to town, we felt there was nothing else than a room to come back to at night. We couldn't stay in the town long because the road was dark and quite scary really, even holding a basic torch. We felt the owners to be very hospitable and generous in offering information about the area and offered to arrange everything for us but their prices are very expensive. We were charged 350y for a pickup from the airport while we were offered 280-300y for the same service on several occasions and also the pricing of all other activities were far more than in town so we declined any further assistance in arranging such.
I can imagine that some people will like the isolation deep in the countryside or the cheap price but we were feeling bored here, missed some warmth and character and the local experience we were hoping to get.

There is no record of Carl from Sweden staying at our place in July. All our booking are confirmed via HostelBookers and HostelWorld, (we don't accept e-mail or phone bookings). This review is not valid as the reviewer did not book and stay with us

came back and stayed here for 3 days with my bf because i loved it so much the first time i was here in 2011.
the place is still as amazing as i remembered. The stone bridge's host are the most welcoming and helpful people you can find, and being English speakers, communication with them to gather info on tours and good places to see was like smooth sailing. They even helped us book and organise all our tours and activites.
The place felt exactly like a home should. the rooms were clean, food was delicious and the general vibe of everything was so warm and inviting.
Views are stunning and ambiance was so tranquil. Main town was also in close proximity.
will definately be coming back in the near future.....

My wife and I stayed at The Stone Bridge for 5 nights mid September.
We arrived to Yangshuo from Guilin by bus and took a taxi from the bus station to The Stone Bridge. When the taxi driver got on a dirt road we got worried thinking we were going to be in some God forsaken place but when we got there our worries were quickly replaced with joy. We were greeted by Jessie, a Chinese with a perfect English, who owns The Stone Bridge with her husband Stephen, an Australian who spent more than half his life in China. From the first second we got there Jessie and Steve made us feel welcome and at home. They told us to come see them for anything we needed and not to be shy because we were “with uncle and auntie” as Steve had put it.
The Stone Bridge is located outside Yangshuo but is only 20 minutes walk in a nice scenery to Yangshuo’s centre (West street) at an easy pace. The inn was opened 3 years ago and looks so good that you’d think it was opened the day before. The whole place is very “western oriented” with only English signs. The rooms are huge with a very large bathroom, the bed was very comfortable, the view out the window is amazing and the area is very peaceful.
The room had towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, mosquito repelling tablets, a flash light for walking to town at night (though we didn't use since we were there was there was a full moon and its light was enough and much more fun to have), nets on the windows to the balcony and a closet (something we actually missed having in China).
The 4th floor of the inn has a nice balcony to relax in as well as a TV, loads of DVD's and a Playstation 2.
Jessie and Steve are happy to help with organising tours, cooking class at Cloud 9 (also very recommended), tickets to the Impression Show, etc. They also rent bicycles at a great price and make sure they’re all in tip-top condition.
When we left The Stone Bridge we had breakfast at the inn (which was delicious!) and took a shuttle bus to the airport. Not only was that also organised by Jessie, but Steve escorted us to town to make sure we got on the right bus.

If we ever get to Yangshuo again, we’re definitely going to stay at The Stone Bridge.

Room Tip: From what we've seen, you can't get a bad room. There's no lift in the place so if you...

This is an excellent place to stay. The owners are very helpful and friendly and treat you like family. The rooms and common areas are immaculately clean. The location is perfect- quiet and beautiful, but only a couple of minutes by bike into town.

Great hospitality, Beautiful setting, and clean/spacious rooms. thats what you get here.
