Facilities: Rooms are good. Highlight of common facilities is the large communal kitchen for hanging out as well as meals. Free cook-yourself breakfast with a good variety, available all morning (until 11 AM).
Staff: Jane, Tripper, and the rest of the staff are very helpful and full of advice, without pressuring you.We used the travel agent services for purchasing our bus tickets, cave tour, bamboo raft tour, and cooking school; the prices were good and it was so convenient. For some things (like Gold Water Cave) the agency price is half the price you get at the door. Most of the staff spoke good English, though there were a few who we had communication difficulties with.
Restaurant: The restaurant at their second neighboring hostel, Carpe Diem, is good for italian food, burgers, and Belgian beer; we didn't like the Chinese dishes or desserts as much. You can also get most of the same food at Cosy garden itself.
Location: we were very happy we decided to stay out of town to avoid the crowds and noise. It is too far to go into town casually, but with a bit of forethought it isn't too inconvenient, and it is a beautiful walk or bike ride along the river.
Miscellaneous: My very tall partner notes that it is great for tall people -- the beds are longer than normal, towels are huge, and shower heads are high!More
