If you are looking for some place quiet with lots of greenery and nice view, this hotel is it. The hotel is away from the city but close to a few spots such as Moon Hill, Banyan Tree, and Mud Bath. Lots of hawkering along the street for some local food. Rent a bike from the hotel and you are ready to go. I recommend a mountain bike as it's easier to ride on the slopes.

The view from the room was fantastic. Room is basic but have necessary facilities. However, there are no amenities provided. So bring your own. Bed is hard but that is with many beds in China. Hot water shower is available throughout with no disruptions. Beds are made every morning by the hotel staff.

The rooftop restaurant has a great view and food is not bad. Don't expect first class food though. It's a great place to soak in the scenery, read and sip some tea.

The best part of the hotel are the staff. The staff can speak English and are very thoughtful. we received a welcome gift upon arrival. We were also given lucky money of 1rmb when we left. Staff is helpful and always ready to provide information. Best of all, they always wear a smile on their face.

Hotel is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the front which has mountain view

Pros
Great location for Yulong River and Moon Hill. 45min bike ride to West Street.
Meals at the restaurant was ok, limited menu.
Staff helpful.
Lots of fruit vendors along the road, Strawberries galore!!

Cons
No bathroom amenities ie. Bath soaps, toothbrushes etc... They are eco-friendly.
No televisions
Dirty wardrobes, dirty slippers
We stayed for 3 nights and they didn't change bedsheets etc.
Room and bathroom not very clean
Location is pitch black dark at nights, no street lights so very dangerous if you're returning by bike at night.
Bikes don't have lights or front baskets for rucksacks etc.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel, facing the hills. Bright and best views. Natural sunlight. It is no...

Dear friend ,

Thank you for your comment. As you mentioned, our hotel has a very great countryside location, 80 metre away from Yulong River, you definitely can see the river from the window of the front rooms and our rooftop restaurant. For the menu, yep, we have to update it to make more foods on it, in fact, our chefs can make many food as your request, just ask them, they are happy to help you. We are eco-friendly so that we don't promote the one single use things. We have been cleaning our rooms and sheets every day,one thing possible was that the housekeeper confused and forgot. if you found out we hadn't done that, just told the housekeeper or receptionist, they would do right now. Of course, we have been improving ourselves day by day. It will be much more better. Thank you for your comment again, hope you come back one day and have a nice stay.

The atmosphere, the warm kindness of the family and employees, the individuell style of the Villa and rooms.
The scenery, silent and fascinating surrounfing of the Villa, the rocks and hills of the karst mountains and the overwhelming green of the gardens and fields around the Villa.
This place is a very beautiful place to relaxe and enjoy the peaceful nature there and an ideal
starting point for hiking and biking along the Yalong River or in the nearby rocks, hills and caves.
Go there and enjoy !!!

Hidden Dragon is a lovely little hotel with some of the friendliest staff who are great hosts. We had one of the best rooms that overlook the river, with local fishponds and fields between. It was an amazing view. The rooftop restaurant is a lovely place to spend an evening and chat to other travellers. The menu is limited - as you would expect in a small hotel. The Chinese dishes are v. good the western dishes passable [but french fries/chips excellent]. Sometimes after a few weeks in China a pizza and chips are all you want - washed down with a bottle of Great Wall or Chinese beer, while you watch the stars come out over the karsts and listen to the frogs in the river.
It is easy to walk from the hotel to many of the local tourist places,we even walked to Yangshou town, about 10 minutes by car but nearly an hour on foot. They also loan bikes [with hard seats for soft western female bums], and will arrange taxis for you with local drivers they know -who are always great - and drive sanely compared to drivers in Beijing/Shangai. We were there during a public holiday period and Hidden Dragon was a little oasis of calm in the deafening log-jam of buses/cars/bikes - and traders pursuing you to sell you stuff that is Yangshuo town.
We experienced one local powercut after a severe rainstorm, it limited breakfast choice a little but didn't interfere with supply of hot water to our shower.
While we were there stone lions were delivered with celebratory fire crackers, and placed on either side of the door of the previously empty hotel that flanks one side of Hidden Dragon. Maybe there will be an additional hotel in this location very soon. They need one- they were full when we left.

Room Tip: Getting one of the most expensive rooms is well worth the small additional price if you value a view...

First time to China - we stayed here for one month (Feb. to March 2012) teaching English to the staff, exploring the area on the first leg of our honeymoon.

Highlights - Very friendly and youthful staff (get to know them!) who go out of their way to connect you with local culture and make your stay more enjoyable; the food was delicious (although some of the Western dishes are not what you'd expect). Try the Curry Chicken or Gong Bao if you like it spicy!; it's close to almost every activity available in Yangshuo; the building itself does have its own charm.
Downsides - Constant bamboo raft offers near the hotel (we stubbornly resisted just for spite), other offers can be a bit annoying after a while as well; a few power outages and construction, although it was in the off-season; beds in China, and Asia in general, can be somewhat uncomfortable if you're used to the Western "standard"; and make no mistake - the weather is COLD this time of year, so be prepared!

Don't expect everyone you meet to understand English, you're in China.

It was truly the staff that made this hotel stand out amongst the others in the area. :)

P.S. If you find yourself on West St. in Yangshuo town, drop by Harmony Cakes Bakery. You won't regret it!

Room Tip: Rooms can either face the village (read: "other buildings"), chickens and a few karst moun...

The hotel is located in the beautiful landscape of Yangshuo county nearby the Yulongriver. To reach the hotel is a 5 to 10 minute drive by bus or taxi from Yangshuo. A lot of attractions were around the hotel and it's easy to explore them by bike. In the hotel restaurant they serve good local specialities and western food for a good price. The Rooms are big, nice and in good value for money. The stuff is very friendly and familiar. So when we go back to Yangshuo, we know were we stay....

Room Tip: Every room is good, but if it's possible take one with riverview!

We appreciated the friendly and personal attention from the staff who did their very best to accommodate our needs, despite local power interruptions. THe meals were good, with a variety of choices and the room which looked out to the mountains warm in the middle of winter! THe hotel is close to transport and within walking distance to some special sites. WE found this hotel a welcome change from large and impersonal chain hotels. A great place from which to see some of the magnificent scenery on offer.
